We are excited to share Bayer | Pharmaceuticals intent to acquire Perfuse Therapeutics!!
How often do we stop to think about our vision — until it begins to change? Experts estimate that today at least one billion people live with vision impairment that could have been prevented or has yet to be addressed. This is why I'm excited to share our intent to acquire Perfuse Therapeutics to complement our ophthalmology pipeline and help patients with glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy who suffer from retinal disease. Many congratulations #TeamBayer 🎉!

Prevent Blindness has declared February Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Low Vision Month to provide the public and professionals with education and various expert-approved resources. Ophthalmology Innovation Source highlighted a recent presentation by Perfuse Therapeutics. Targeting Retinal Ischemia: A New Approach from Perfuse Therapeutics Retinal ischemia and impaired blood flow are increasingly recognized as key drivers of vision loss across multiple retinal diseases. In this video from OIS XV, Sevgi Gurkan, MD, founder, president, and CEO of Perfuse Therapeutics, discusses the company’s approach to addressing retinal disease by targeting ischemia and neurodegeneration earlier in the disease process. Gurkan explains the clinical observations that led to the founding of Perfuse Therapeutics and provides an overview of the company’s lead program, which is designed to restore physiologic blood flow to ischemic retinal tissue rather than targeting VEGF or inflammation directly. She also outlines the potential for this strategy to be applied across multiple retinal indications and to complement existing therapies as the program advances into clinical development. 🚀 Exciting Announcement from Perfuse Therapeutics! 🚀 We are thrilled to share that our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Phillip Lai, will be presenting data on PER-001 at Eyecelerator @ AAO 2025, held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL on October 16th. PER-001 represents a potential revolutionary advancement as a first-in-class endothelin antagonist in a bio-erodible intravitreal implant, offering every 6-month dosing. It holds the promise to become the first disease-modifying treatment for primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and diabetic retinopathy (DR). Initial findings show that PER-001 is well tolerated, safe, and significantly improves both function and structure. We look forward to sharing more details at the event and connecting with other industry leaders and innovators. #PerfuseTherapeutics #Ophthalmology #Glaucoma #DiabeticRetinopathy #Eyecelerator2025
