We’re pleased to see Pelorus featured in Vogue Business, exploring how climate change is reshaping the future of luxury travel. The article looks at a shift we are seeing first-hand: clients are looking beyond traditional destinations and asking how their journeys can offer deeper access, greater understanding and a positive contribution to the places they visit. Speaking with Vogue Business, Geordie Mackay-Lewis, CEO and Co-Founder of Pelorus, discussed how access to remote environments comes with responsibility, and how Pelorus’ 1% levy helps direct funds back into environmental protection. Thank you to Bella Webb and Vogue Business for including Pelorus in the piece. Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/endMEfUa

What does the future of yacht charter look like? SuperyachtNews spoke with Gayle Patterson, Director of Yachting at Pelorus, about the growing demand for charters that connect guests more meaningfully with the environments they explore. From whale-tagging alongside scientists in Antarctica to tracking hammerhead sharks, manta rays and giant tortoises in the Galápagos, these charters place conservation and education alongside exploration. Guests can contribute to active research, support local scientific teams and develop a deeper understanding of the ecosystems around them. Thank you to SuperyachtNews for exploring how a new generation of owners and charterers is looking beyond the traditional cruising grounds, and asking not only where a yacht can take them, but what they can contribute when they arrive. The world is bigger than the story you have been told. This is where we explain why. I am excited to see the launch of this platform. What to Expect from 'Ground Truth'. Each month, members of the Pelorus team will share observations drawn from the places we work, the people we meet, and the questions we are being asked. Topics will vary from geopolitics and what it means for travelers, to technology, conservation, culture, family travel and more. The running theme will be connected by a simple belief: the world is usually more interesting, more complex, and more human than the version we encounter from afar. In the months ahead, we will explore questions around how American’s are being perceived abroad, why relationships matter more as technology advances, how travel shapes the way children understand the world, and what responsible travel might look like in the decades ahead. Not because we claim to have all the answers, but because we believe some of the most valuable questions are best explored through direct experience rather than secondhand assumptions. Ground Truth is an invitation to look beyond first impressions and spend a little longer with the places, people and perspectives that shape them.

One of the challenges with global headlines is that they tend to reduce entire regions to a single story. Over the past few weeks, I've spoken with several travelers concerned about the Ebola outbreak in parts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. While those concerns are understandable, it's important to recognize that many regions across Africa remain unaffected, and that understanding the specific location of an outbreak and the realities on the ground is far more valuable than viewing the continent through a single headline. As of this week, there are no reported Ebola cases in Kenya, Tanzania, or Rwanda. Tourism operations across East Africa continue to operate normally, including safaris, gorilla trekking, and other wildlife experiences. What's often missing from the headlines is that countries such as Uganda and the DRC have significant experience managing Ebola outbreaks. Screening measures, contact tracing, surveillance programs, and cross-border coordination were activated quickly, supported by the World Health Organization, Africa CDC, and regional health authorities. One fact that rarely makes the news: in 50 years of Ebola outbreaks, there has never been a documented case of a leisure traveler contracting Ebola while traveling in Africa. That doesn't mean travelers should ignore official guidance. It means decisions should be based on facts, geography, and expert local intelligence rather than assumptions. The reality is that Africa is not a single destination. It's a continent of 54 countries, thousands of miles apart, each with its own circumstances, protocols, and realities. Good travel decisions come from understanding the difference between a headline and what's actually happening on the ground. That's true whether you're planning a safari in Kenya, gorilla trekking in Rwanda, or traveling anywhere else in the world.

Some children don't just look at the world. They wonder what lies beyond it. They stand at the edge of the ocean and ask what's underneath. They look up at the stars and ask what else is out there. In our next instalment of Curious Minds, we present The Seeker. In Indonesia, watch your children become mermaids, mastering the monofin and swimming alongside kaleidoscope reefs and rare marine species. In Namibia, sleep under one of the darkest skies on earth and explore the galaxy with a resident astronomer. Or witness a once-in-a-generation solar eclipse in Egypt next year, with a personal Egyptologist bringing the science to life. The Seeker doesn't just travel to a new destination. They travel to a different dimension of the world entirely. Experiences that place your family at the centre of the story. Where will their curiosity take them? The private aviation market this summer: what you need to know At this time of year, you’ll see plenty of posts urging people to book early, warning of rising prices and limited availability. That isn’t wrong, but it also isn’t the full picture. After my first few months at Pelorus, one thing has become very clear: while pricing across private aviation has increased, the reality is often far better than clients expect. In almost every conversation we’re having right now, expectations are landing higher than the market itself. Many people have been conditioned to assume the worst, yet we are consistently sourcing solutions that are considerably more reasonable than anticipated. In some cases, once the full equation is considered, private charter can even prove more cost-effective than the commercial alternative. Another notable shift this summer is where demand is heading. Requests are no longer limited to the usual routes into Mallorca, Ibiza, or the Côte d’Azur. Clients are increasingly looking for less obvious itineraries and experiences that don’t resemble the standard Mediterranean summer. That curiosity and the operational capability to deliver on it - is where Pelorus offers something beyond a traditional broker. With major events such as the FIFA Club World Cup, Wimbledon, and Royal Ascot just around the corner, charter demand is accelerating quickly. If any of these are on your calendar, now is the time to act. Availability still exists, we are continuing to place last-minute requests across Europe and further afield - but what narrows with late notice is not access entirely, rather the breadth of choice across aircraft types, routing flexibility, and preferred departure times. If you’re considering private aviation this summer, the earlier we speak, the more optionality we can create. And if you’re already approaching it last minute, it’s still worth the conversation. The picture is better than you think.
