This is the post that gets Agent governance on the budget. In 2024, TD Bank paid a $1.3 billion penalty for control failures regulators called systemic. The largest in FinCEN history. Most AI agents running in enterprise environments today have never appeared in a certification campaign. They hold standing credentials, no documented owner, and in many cases can both initiate and approve the same transaction.  That is a separation-of-duties violation whether or not it is software. Auditors have started treating it that way. The average SOX program costs $2.3 million and 15,000 person-hours a year just to pass. Add agents that were never scoped into IT general controls, and that number grows. Running non-compliant has been estimated at 2.71 times the cost of staying compliant. SailPoint launched Unified Platform Access, a new program that gives technology partners direct access to build native applications on the SailPoint platform. Opnova is part of the inaugural cohort. For enterprise security teams, this matters. The biggest barrier to identity security maturity has been integration complexity.
