Exciting MOF News🎉 Numat has been awarded a $23.67M initial acquisition contract to deliver next-generation chemical and biological protection suits to U.S. Special Operations Forces. The award is part of the United States Department of War's Accelerate the Procurement and Fielding of Innovative Technologies (APFIT) program which fast-tracks proven technology to the Warfighter years ahead of traditional acquisition timelines. Numat's suits are powered by Nobel Prize-winning metal-organic framework (MOF) technology and represent a step-change in chemical and biological protection, giving operators more freedom of movement and increased safety in contested environments. Thank you to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Industrial Base Policy, the Capability Program Executive for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (CPE CBRND), USSOCOM, the US Army, the US Navy, U.S. Army DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center, and U.S. Army DEVCOM Soldier Center for close collaboration on this important milestone. Congratulations to Numat's Chief Science Officer, Dr. Omar Farha for being awarded the inaugural 2026 Reticular Science Prize. 🎉 The prize, presided over by Nobel laureate Prof. Omar Yaghi and chaired by Prof. Laura Gagliardi, recognizes outstanding contributions to the science of molecularly defined materials. The selection committee highlighted Omar's pioneering work in metal–organic frameworks and the rare translational impact of his research through Numat, including advances in semiconductor gas handling, toxic gas catalysis, and chemical warfare agent decomposition. At the MOF2026 Conference, we had the opportunity to reflect on a landmark year for the MOF community. In New Orleans, we were honored to co-host a dinner reception with Aramco Ventures and Promethean Particles in honor of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, awarded for the development of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs).
