🚨 Another historic first for the United States Department of War! CAMRE at the Naval Postgraduate School, in collaboration with FLEETWERX and Splash Industries, successfully demonstrated the delivery of advanced manufactured components from shore to ship — and the return pickup of parts manufactured aboard a US Navy ship via a stern gate arrival. ⚓ This evolution showcased a scalable model of autonomous logistics, even during poor weather and contested environments, for U.S. Naval Surface Force Pacific ships equipped with a well deck — all without requiring an onboard ground control station. 🚢 Joint Executed; Joint Supported The operation perfectly integrated the powerful trifecta of Advanced Manufacturing (AM), Autonomous Systems (AS), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Parts produced shoreside by multiple services were delivered by a digitally-crewed surface vessel (DCSV) to a US Navy ship. The DCSV then picked up components manufactured aboard by United States Marine Corps personnel — including UAS parts made for the US Army. Upon return to shore, those components were rapidly assembled by Soldiers and Marines and successfully flown during a counter-UAS (cUAS) event, all in under a 24-hour period, while supporting the Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet at #RIMPAC2026. The entire operation was orchestrated and tracked in real time through the CAMRE-designed Joint Advanced Manufacturing System (JAMS), now deployed across U.S. Pacific Command. 👏 Bravo Zulu to every partner involved and a big thank you to our hosts at the 25th Infantry Division and U.S. Army Hawai'i and to our sponsors at U.S. Naval Surface Force Pacific and the Department of Defense Manufacturing Technology Program for making this win possible! This month, NPS will commission an #NVIDIADGX GB300 AI supercomputer on its Monterey campus. But it’s not the first time landmark computing technologies have come to NPS. In 1960, NPS received Seymour Cray’s world-first transistorized computer, Control Data Corp.’s (CDC) 1604 Model 1, Serial No. 1 … the supercomputer of its day. Cray personally supervised the installation of the CDC 1604, and it soon fostered a cross-campus foundation in computational modeling for advanced research and education that continues today. "Each generation of computing capability has expanded what NPS students and researchers are able to accomplish," said NPS Chief Information Officer Trenton Hancock. "The NVIDIA DGX GB300 represents the next evolution of our computing infrastructure, enabling researchers to tackle increasingly complex operational problems using artificial intelligence, modeling and simulation, and machine learning at unprecedented speed and scale." At its core, DGX GB300 pairs 36 NVIDIA Grace Central Processing Units (CPUs) with 72 NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), allowing it to process large volumes of data in parallel rather than just sequentially. The system combines computing infrastructure, storage, networking, and software into a single, rack-scale platform.
