The Probation Agent goes live today for Anglia Ruskin University! Designed to automate the end-to-end probation review process, the agent manages key administrative tasks including tracking probation milestones, triggering review workflows, notifying managers, and ensuring the right actions happen at the right time - reducing manual effort and helping keep probation processes on track. Built, tested and deployed in just 5 weeks, the agent has already made an immediate impact, processing 900 probation case on its very first run. It's always rewarding to see automation delivering value from day one. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this project a success! Want to learn more? #Rebrands are one of the most complex, high-stakes projects a team can take on. Miss the mark and you lose what made them recognisable. Nail it and you give a company something to grow into. We recently had the privilege of doing exactly that for Niico - building a brand and digital experience ready to take on the future of #AI in higher education. The best part? Clients are thrilled. See what they had to say here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ecB-RgMS Watch this space, phase 3 is next 👀 #Branding #WebDesign #DigitalTransformation #CreatingStoriesThatMatter

This is what our Founder and CEO, Alistair Sergeant, has to say about the sectors view on AI right now. #UCISA26

Which factor will shape how institutions navigate this year most effectively? Cast your vote in the Alistair Sergeant's poll and see what others in the sector think.
This year is shaping up to be a year of tough choices and rapid change for higher education. From financial pressures to the rising demand for AI skills, institutions are being tested on multiple fronts. Technology, curriculum relevance, and strategic partnerships all play a role, but which will have the greatest impact in your view?

Our journey reflects something we see across the education sector. Timing matters just as much as technology. Niico’s move from concept to scale was driven by a shift in how institutions began engaging with AI and automation. More mature conversations, shared learning across the sector, and real outcomes turned ideas into something tangible and scalable. A great perspective on how readiness, not just innovation, shapes success.
Niico started as an idea back in 2018. The technology was already proven elsewhere, but education simply wasn’t ready to engage with AI and automation at that point. What changed was the maturity of the conversation. From around 2021 onwards, leaders in the sector began asking better questions, sharing knowledge, and exploring real use cases. That shift turned AI from theory into something practical, measurable, and scalable. That moment is when Niico moved from concept to a platform with real outcomes and ROI behind it. Watch the video to hear how that transition unfolded and why it mattered.

Technology is only as effective as the environment it operates in. AI degrees are growing rapidly, but keeping them relevant and credible requires more than launching programmes. Curriculum needs to move faster, employer input has to be tighter, and governance cannot be an afterthought. Rushing to meet demand risks outcomes that quickly fall behind. Operationally, the recent Lincoln Bishop story is a stark reminder that systems alone cannot solve underlying challenges. Timing, process, and cashflow realities matter just as much as technology. For 2026, the institutions that succeed will be those using technology to ease workloads, enhance student support, and stabilise operations. The question for any initiative is clear: will it reduce pressure for staff, or simply layer more change on top? 📩 Explore more insights in the latest Future Focus newsletter: https://lnkd.in/ekQxqn5K

A lot of the conversations I’m having right now with institutions centre on the same theme: how to navigate change without getting lost in the noise. That’s exactly why we created the Future Focus newsletter. It’s a space to share practical perspectives on education, AI, and automation, grounded in what we’re seeing day to day rather than headlines and hype. If you’re interested in how the sector is really evolving, it’s worth a follow. https://lnkd.in/eMPqwWxD

Onboarding new staff should be seamless, not a mountain of manual tasks. With Niico’s intelligent automation platform and our growing library of pre-built bots, HR teams can automate key parts of the employee onboarding journey: ✔ Collecting employee information ✔ Triggering internal notifications ✔ Raising requests for equipment and systems access ✔ Creating user accounts across systems Instead of spending hours on repetitive admin, HR teams can focus on welcoming new starters, building culture, and supporting long-term success. Staff onboarding is one of those areas where complexity quietly builds up. Multiple systems, repeated data entry, access requests, notifications, all before someone’s even started properly. This is exactly where Niico helps. By automating core onboarding tasks like collecting employee information, triggering internal notifications, setting up systems access, and creating user accounts, HR teams can remove a huge amount of manual effort from day one. The result is a smoother experience for new starters and more time for HR teams to focus on people, not process. Visit https://niico.ai to find out more.
