The Balaghat–Gondia section of NH-543 is set to enhance seamless connectivity between Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, improving access to key mining zones, industrial centres and popular tourist destinations in the region. The upgraded corridor will facilitate smoother movement of passengers and freight, reduce congestion within Balaghat through the proposed bypass, and significantly cut travel time. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the 43.2 km long Varuna Elevated Corridor, connecting NH-31 with the Varanasi Ring Road to strengthen urban mobility and decongest Varanasi's busy road network. The proposed corridor will reduce travel time from about 60 minutes to 20 minutes between Varanasi Airport and the city centre while improving connectivity to Varanasi Airport, Varanasi Cantonment, Kashi Railway Station, Namo Ghat and other key destinations. By enabling smoother passenger and freight movement, the project will support tourism, economic development and sustainable urban growth across the city. The Union Cabinet has approved the development of the 46 km long, 6-lane Ganga Elevated Corridor, connecting NH-19 with the Varanasi Ring Road, which will transform urban mobility by decongesting Varanasi while providing seamless connectivity along the Ganga riverfront. The corridor is expected to reduce travel time from about 60 minutes to just 20 minutes, improve access to key destinations including Kashi Vishwanath Temple, BHU, Namo Ghat and Ramnagar, and strengthen tourism, pilgrimage, logistics and regional economic growth. Featuring a 910 m cable-stayed bridge and a 1.32 km extradosed Foot Over Bridge, the project blends world-class engineering with Varanasi's cultural heritage. Developed using Ultra High Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC) technology, it will be India's longest flyover built with this next-generation engineering innovation.
