During the most recent NexusCast on HVAC Sequence Optimization, Jonathan Schoenfeld, P.E., of Noda, explained how they deliver an average ROI of 250% to their customers by using their AI agent as a 24/7 engineer. Simply flagging faults is no longer enough to maximize HVAC savings in modern buildings. You need someone, or something, continuously reviewing building data, performing root cause analysis, and prioritizing the highest-value opportunities.

During the most recent NexusCast on HVAC Sequence Optimization, Ross Cumoletti of Gridium discusses why, when maximizing optimization savings, reactive changes to real-time data aren't always enough. If peak demand and weather are properly tracked, predictive curtailment becomes a possibility. With that kind of foresight, on-site teams can ensure that not a single kWh or dollar is wasted. Those are the kind of savings that become meaningful quickly.

During the most recent NexusCast on HVAC Sequence Optimization, Ben Disney of Adaptive Buildings dives into whether AI is actually replacing people in commercial buildings. When a hospital campus is generating 17,000 BAS alarms per day, the challenge is knowing what actually matters. AI can help filter the noise, but experienced people still need to use their judgment to prioritize issues, dispatch the right technician, and keep buildings running efficiently. AI is helping people make better decisions, not replacing them.

During the most recent NexusCast on HVAC Sequence Optimization, Chris Turner of Altura shed light on what happened when the BAS graphics indicated there wasn't an override, even though something was clearly wrong. This shows why experienced controls optimization goes beyond graphics. A manual override hidden directly in the local controller wasn't visible on the front-end. Energy drift happens over months and years, one override at a time, and finding the root cause often requires going deeper than a dashboard.

When the 2025 LA wildfires took outdoor air quality to critically dangerous levels, some office buildings kept occupants safe, while others were just as bad indoors as out. The difference was constant monitoring and knowing in real time whether their filters and HVAC systems were working, rather than closing a damper and hoping for the best. At NexusCon, Dr. Joseph Allen of Harvard Healthy Buildings Program and McClure Kelly of Beacon Capital Partners shared how Beacon protected its Los Angeles portfolio during one of the region's worst urban fires. You can't manage what you don't measure. Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/ejSwRnTc

Altura (MSI) and McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. (controls contractor) collaborated on a project to upgrade outdated building automation systems in occupied medical office buildings. The work was scheduled for the graveyard shift to avoid a shutdown, and the owner's rep mandated that the "medical staff should never know anyone had been in the building." At NexusCon 2025, they shared the tips they've learned for performing this all-too-common controls work on critical uptime facilities. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/giCHJ44N
