Exciting news from the ENEA-Brasimone Research Centre! PRECURSOR’s Turbogenerator has been delivered and installed. PRECURSOR is the 10 MWth non-nuclear demonstrator of newcleo’s Lead-cooled Fast Reactor. It is designed to replicate the full-operating cycle of our reactors, including electricity generation. This happens thanks to a Turbogenerator able to convert the steam coming from PRECURSOR’s Steam Generators into up to 3 MW of electricity, enough to offset part of the facility’s own demand – this makes it truly unique in the world. This component has been manufactured by our partner FINCANTIERI – starting from our specifications – and installed in Brasimone by our SRS Servizi di Ricerche e Sviluppo S.r.l. colleagues. With turbogenerator’s installation finalized, PRECURSOR’s cycle is now complete. From an idea, to a demonstrator, to power. This is PRECURSOR. #newcleo #LFR #NuclearEnergy #PRECURSOR #SMR

  • 🇫🇷 🇮🇹 When people think of France and Italy, they think of culture, design, food, and a certain way of life.   They sometimes forget that both are also major industrial countries. Engineering, science, and the ability to turn technological innovation into industry have shaped both nations just as much.   In an op-ed published yesterday in Les Echos and La Stampa, our founder and CEO Stefano Buono shares a simple point of view: France and Italy, working together, can help build a stronger and more independent European industry, where advanced nuclear has an important role to play.   Read the articles and share your thoughts in the comments : 🇫🇷 Les Echos: https://lnkd.in/eqAZcXzf 🇮🇹 La Stampa: https://lnkd.in/edHaAjmr   #newcleo #Europe #Industry #Innovation #Energy #Nuclear #France #Italy

The world is in an energy race. Right now, Europe is falling behind. That was the issue at the centre of today's plenary at the FII PRIORITY Europe 2026 Summit in Rome, "The Energy Trilemma: Security, Affordability, and the New Energy Infrastructure”, where our Founder and CEO Stefano Buono joined Dr. Mohamed Farouk (ADES TECHNOLOGIES HOLDING), Filippo Ghirelli (INFRACORP), Doris Honold (SEFE Securing Energy for Europe GmbH) and Dr. Samir J. Serhan (Acwa), in a discussion moderated by Eithne Treanor, Media Trainer and Communications Expert. Security, affordability and sustainability are too often treated as a trade-off. Strengthen one, sacrifice another. Advanced nuclear refuses that choice. It delivers reliable, low-carbon power, builds infrastructure resilience, and creates genuine energy independence by recycling spent fuel and closing the fuel cycle. One technology, working across all three dimensions of the trilemma at once. "Europe doesn't lack the technology or the talent to lead this transition. What it lacks is urgency. The countries that treat energy as a race are the ones that will stay competitive, and that means moving now, not in a decade.” The United States has understood what's at stake and is accelerating, treating energy, and advanced nuclear in particular, as strategic national infrastructure. The logic is simple. Energy is the backbone of every economy: of industry, of competitiveness, of security. There is no such thing as an energy-poor rich country. Europe has the engineering, the talent and the industrial heritage to lead this race. The question is no longer whether we can but rather it's how fast we choose to move. Thank you to the FII Institute for convening the leaders shaping the infrastructure, technologies and investment behind tomorrow's energy system. #newcleo #nuclear #energey #technology

newcleo and SHINE Technologies are joining forces to help close the nuclear fuel cycle.   Today we announced an agreement with SHINE to advance the recycling of used nuclear fuel, combining SHINE's reprocessing technology with newcleo's MOX fuel manufacturing and lead-cooled fast reactors, which are designed to run on recycled fuel.   Under the collaboration, the companies will assess how SHINE can supply newcleo with recovered uranium and plutonium to manufacture MOX fuel, and how SHINE can recycle spent fuel from newcleo's reactors. They also intend to pursue U.S. federal funding opportunities together and to explore collaboration across both the U.S. and the European Union, where drawing down spent-fuel stockpiles is a growing strategic priority.   The approach aims to reduce the volume and radioactivity of used fuel — lowering long-term storage costs while securing a domestic supply of fissile material for the next generation of reactors.   "Closing the fuel cycle will require deep, industry-wide collaboration. Today marks an important step in that direction," said Stefano Buono, founder and CEO of newcleo.   Technical scoping begins this year. Last week we were honoured to welcome a Lithuanian delegation to the ENEA Brasimone Research Centre in Italy. We hosted Vice Minister of Energy Gabriel Gorbačevski and Linas Bauzys, CEO of Altra (Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant operating under the name Altra), together with colleagues from the Ministry of Energy and Altra.   During the visit, the delegation saw the primary vessel of our PRECURSOR demonstrator, currently being installed at Brasimone – a 10 MWth non-nuclear testbed and a tangible step in scaling up our lead-cooled fast reactor technology.   The visit builds on the non-binding memorandum of understanding signed in July 2025 with Altra, which establishes a framework to evaluate a potential collaboration. Under it, the parties are carrying out a staged pre-feasibility study to assess the potential deployment of newcleo's LFR technology in Lithuania, including site evaluation, the potential management of spent nuclear fuel through MOX, and High RES grid integration, subject to the outcome of each phase.   A reflection of what European collaboration can look like: shared ambition, shared technology, and a shared future. 🌍⚡   #newcleo #LFR #AdvancedNuclear #PRECURSOR #Lithuania #CleanEnergy #EuropeanEnergy
