Your backstage crew for innovation in MusicTech

About us

MusicTech Lab helps music and entertainment companies build the tech they need. That includes everything from AI MusicGen models and audits of AI music tools, to early superfan apps, ticketing systems, DSP integrations, and fast, detailed dashboards showing ISRC earnings across millions of streams. We like to think that our team really gets how the music industry works. We’ve worked with labels, distributors, PROs, DSPs and pretty much every part of the business. We’ve also handled the glorious chaos of raw data from distributors and streaming platforms, and made sense of it. As proud members of DDEX (https://ddex.net), we're committed to shape the future of the music ecosystem. We've had the privilege of working with great companies like Closer Music, Cherry Red Records, Roadie.co, and ZAiKS, among many others. Essentially, we bring the expertise and a dedicated, senior tech team to help you make your mark in MusicTech.

  • In the latest edition of MusicTech Insights, Garry Yankson, looks at one of the biggest challenges facing creative founders: turning vision into a business that can actually grow. Drawing on his experience working with artists, startups, and creative entrepreneurs, Garry shares why clear models, execution, and understanding where value is created matter just as much as the idea itself. Worth a read if you’re building in MusicTech, investing in the space, or simply curious about what comes after the hype.

  • If you're building a startup at the intersection of music, technology, entertainment or the creative industries, this series is worth following. As a partner of the Mudder Fracas podcast, we're happy to support Yaw's new series highlighting some of Europe's most interesting accelerators for creative startups. The series kicks off with Abbey Road REDD, one of Europe's best-known innovation programmes for music and creative technology startups. A big shout-out to Anthony Achille, who has helped shape what REDD is today. There are 17 accelerators in the full series, so make sure to follow Mudder Fracas on YouTube and Instagram if you're looking for opportunities to grow your startup in Europe. We'll be sharing more episodes over the coming days & weeks. https://lnkd.in/d8GfikA5

  • The business side of the creator economy is often more interesting than the headlines. In the latest Mudder Fracas episode, Yaw Asamani looks beyond the reports about LVMH's planned exit from Fenty Beauty and explains how the original Rihanna partnership was structured, why the ownership story is more nuanced than many articles suggest, and what could happen next. Short episode, no fluff, just an interesting look at one of the biggest creator-business stories of recent years. A few takeaways: - How the original deal was put together - Why the headlines don't tell the full story - What LVMH's reported exit could mean - Why creator-led brands are becoming serious businesses We're proud to support Mudder Fracas as its official podcast partner. https://lnkd.in/dpG_X53P

New Partnership: MusicTech Lab x Mudder Fracas 💥 We’re excited to officially support the work that Yaw Asamani is building through Mudder Fracas. What started as a collaboration around the MusicTech Insight newsletter is now evolving into a more structured partnership with the podcast. Mudder Fracas is a space for futurists, founders, and builders exploring the brands, tech, and movements shaping what comes next. That fits closely with how we think about the space we operate in, which sits at the intersection of music, culture, and technology, and the shifts happening underneath it. Yaw has a strong sense for where things are going and a way of turning that into conversations that are useful for founders and builders. At MusicTech Lab, we’re happy to support his efforts 🤘 If you’re working on something in music, tech, or culture and want to be part of the conversation, feel free to reach out. I wrote a piece for MusicTech Lab about 4 music industry AI products that have given me a "wow" moment this year: 1. ONCE (onceappai) - music distribution powered by AI 2. Recoup (Recoup) - AI record label operating system 3. Unisound (Unisound) - Uses AI to find un-collected publishing revenue. 4. Neural Frames (Neural Frames) - AI to create music video and promo The conversation around AI in music usually centres around music generation (and Suno), but I think the opportunities to improve the music industry backend are equally interesting. Thanks Maciej Dulski for inviting me to write this one!

  • We recommend the latest Mudder Fracas episode, featuring a conversation between Yaw Asamani and Victoria Blinova. As both listeners and official podcast partners, we're especially happy to help bring conversations like this to the MusicTech and creative communities. Victoria has helped creators grow channels to millions of subscribers, led digital transformation across 16 markets, and now works with some of Google's largest AI clients. A few highlights from the conversation: - Why brands should give creators more freedom instead of tighter scripts - How to build a lean AI stack without collecting dozens of tools - Why the real value of AI eventually comes down to your data - How creators and businesses can use data to make better decisions - What the next generation of AI-powered creators and operators might look like A practical discussion for founders, creators, and teams building products and businesses in the age of AI. Links to the full conversation on YouTube and Spotify are in the comments 👇

  • Most AI-in-music conversations focus on generation. But what about everything else? In the latest edition of MusicTech Insights, musicben (Benjamin James), founder of STVDIO, looks at how AI is starting to automate the less visible parts of the music business: distribution, publishing administration, metadata management, royalties, release planning, and content creation. Ben has worked as a Billboard writer, major label artist, and consultant to some of the leading music tech companies. For this edition, he selected a few companies that are building tools to help artists, labels, and music businesses spend less time on admin and more time on what matters. You'll find examples including ONCE.app, Recoup, Unisound, and Neural Frames, along with Ben's commentary on why this category deserves more attention. Worth a read if you're building, investing in, or simply following music technology.

  • 🇵🇱 › ✈️ › 🇬🇧 › 🎤 › ✈️ › 🇵🇱

This week I had the chance to attend MTUK + SXSW London 🇬🇧, representing MusicTech Lab. A big thank you to Matt Cartmell from Music Technology UK for the invitation. It was great to catch up with a few familiar faces and meet new people building in MusicTech. 2 days of insights, inspiration, and a few things I'd love to smuggle back to MusicTech Poland. For me, the highlight was joining the startup showcase alongside fellow judges Michael Rohde Böwadt, Christina Maria Hummer and Xavier Tumminello, with Rachel Lyske keeping everything on track. Huge thanks to the founders who stepped up to pitch what they're building: Rémi Agostini (Mewo.io), Hans Ascrawat. (AndR), Emanuele Sanfelici (HAT Music) and Kerry Adams (Cactus Innovation). Your projects are very promising, and you handled the questions without drama. MusicTech is rarely straightforward, so credit where it’s due. Best of luck with what comes next 👏
