Behind every strong digital transformation effort is one thing that should never be treated as an afterthought: **data protection**. I’m currently working on a draft of the **Real Estate Sectoral Code for the Data Privacy Council**, focused on helping the industry build clearer, more practical, and more accountable privacy practices. Real estate is one of the most data-intensive sectors. Every transaction can involve personal information, financial records, identity documents, property details, family circumstances, communications, and long-term client relationships. That means data privacy in real estate is not just a compliance requirement. It is a trust-building mechanism. It is a process improvement opportunity. It is a governance responsibility. And increasingly, it is an area where AI can help organizations work smarter and more consistently. As an **AI-assisted Data Protection Officer and Process Improvement Director**, my focus is on bridging three critical areas: ✅ Regulatory compliance ✅ Operational efficiency ✅ Responsible use of AI The goal is not to make privacy complicated. The goal is to make privacy practical, repeatable, and embedded into day-to-day business processes. AI can support this by helping teams map data flows, identify process gaps, improve documentation, strengthen internal controls, and standardize privacy-by-design practices across departments. But the leadership still matters. AI can assist. People must govern. Organizations must remain accountable. This working draft is an important step toward creating sector-specific guidance that real estate professionals can actually understand, apply, and sustain. The future of data protection will belong to organizations that can combine compliance, process discipline, and intelligent technology.
