My work focuses on research and development projects involving both organic and cementitious materials for mining and civil engineering applications. As part of the R&D team, I contribute to the development of more sustainable and user-friendly solutions. This often requires a non-standard approach, close cooperation within the team, and turning technical ideas into practical applications.” Helena Flor: 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 / 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀 & 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 “My engineering career began in concrete production and construction, giving me a strong technical foundation before I moved into geotechnics, erosion control and slope stabilisation - areas I have developed over 11 years working at Platipus and now Minova. Drawing on this expertise, I have delivered mechanical anchoring and slope stabilisation infrastructure projects across nearly every country in Latin America, working closely with clients to engineer reliable ground support solutions for complex geotechnical challenges. Building regional technical presence across Latin America has been one of the most rewarding challenges of my career.” Thank you to all our female engineers for the expertise, commitment, and ingenuity they bring to Minova.

Great work near Maidstone for Network Rail and Network Rail Southern Region.   Delivered as part of the Southern Renewals Enterprise, these works reduce the risk of future instability, protect infrastructure, and keep the line open and safe.   Well done to CAN and everyone involved!

Nine days working around the clock.   🎯 Goal: Preventive slope stabilisation   While most people were enjoying the half-term break, CAN teams were making the most of a critical nine-day railway blockade in Maidstone for Network Rail and Network Rail Southern Region as part of the Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE).   The project has focused on strengthening the slope above the railway, reducing the risk of future instability and protecting the infrastructure below.   With access to the crest passing through a nearby school, the blockade was planned to coincide with the holidays, minimising disruption to pupils, staff and the local community.   Working day and night throughout the blockade, CAN's teams alongside the project owner VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd and the wider SRE Ecosystem of partners, completed a vital proportion of the stabilisation works during the limited window. And with the project almost finished, the stabilisation will help provide long-term resilience to this section of the railway.   The blockade encountered an initial delay, but thanks to the collaboration of the SRE, this was promptly overcome, and the team are on track to achieve the project objectives on time.   The five-week project is being delivered with additional support from Readypower Group, who supplied specialist plant, and Kompact Solutions Group, who have helped strengthen the workforce during the blockade period.   🛠️ Technical scope • Installation of 503 soil nails using R38 bar • Soil nails installed to depths of 3–4m • Combination of active and passive stabilisation systems • Installation of Tecco Green G65/3 mesh throughout • Access via rope access and railway cess working • 9-day blockade operating 24 hours a day • 5 RRVs (4 drilling units and 1 support unit)   This collaboration shown by site teams, designers, Network Rail and delivery partners, has helped keep the programme moving and maximise the opportunity provided by the blockade. It is a strong example of what can be achieved when teams come together to deliver a common goal.
