Updates

  • National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that better care starts with better understanding. More equitable mental health care requires that we look beyond assumptions, pay attention to context, and work toward systems that help more people feel seen, heard, and accurately understood.

  • No one becomes a nurse practitioner to feel like a screening machine. MindMetrix helps reduce the time spent on repetitive intake work so clinicians can spend more of the visit doing the part that matters most - listening, connecting, and treating the person in front of them. Less time screening. More time connecting.

At APA this year, one question came up again and again: “Is this another AI tool?” The relief we heard when we answered “No” says a lot about where mental health care is right now. While we use AI in limited parts of the product, the assessment itself is built on decades of published research, validated rating scales, DSM-5 criteria, and deterministic logic. Every result is traceable to a specific clinical rationale. Our intelligence isn't artificial. It's the expertise of psychiatrists, psychologists, statisticians, counselors, and measurement scientists who have spent their careers studying how mental health conditions present, how to measure them, and how to tell them apart. When you see a result in MindMetrix, there's a real person behind it and real accountability behind every answer.

  • In mental health care, clinical confidence is not about where you started. It is about how seriously you take the work of getting it right. MindMetrix helps clinicians bring more structure, rigor, and defensible insight into assessment - whether they are building confidence early in practice or deepening an already strong foundation. For serious clinicians, better tools do not replace judgment. They help strengthen it.

  • Psychiatry has never lacked a diagnostic framework. What it often lacks is the time and structure to use that framework fully. In this MindMetrix article, Joel L. Young, MD argues that everyday practice often defaults to a narrow slice of the DSM, relying heavily on tools like the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 while broader symptom patterns and context stay out of frame. The problem is not that psychiatric diagnosis is too expansive. It is that we are often using only a small fraction of what is available to us. MindMetrix was built around that exact gap: helping clinicians move beyond a narrow presenting complaint and toward a fuller, more structured understanding of the patient in front of them.
