Our Valence, France site recently brought employees together for a dedicated Safety Day, featuring workshops on key safety topics at the plant. The sessions created space for open discussion, reinforced protocols, and highlighted the importance of looking out for one another in daily operations. Today we shared Mativ Q1 results, marking a strong start to the year and continued progress in how we’re running the business. Over the past year, our teams have sharpened execution, strengthened discipline, and built a more agile, resilient Mativ. That work is translating into stronger performance and a more consistent foundation across both segments. We also formalized our new strategic blueprint, which will enable us to better focus on growth. Built through close collaboration across our teams and informed by what I have heard throughout my first year as CEO, this strategy is our blueprint for what comes next. It clarifies where we will focus, how we will compete, and how we will unlock the full value of our portfolio while building on the momentum we have already created. 🌟 Putting Our Values Into Action: John Engel, PhD 📍 Querétaro, Mexico Leaders like John exemplify Be Curious in action, combining deep expertise, collaboration, and a continuous learning mindset to make a lasting impact for our teams and customers alike.
With more than 30 years in the release liner industry, John Engel, PhD brings deep technical expertise and a uniquely cross functional perspective to his role as R&D Principal Scientist with Itasa. John began his career as a Product Development Chemist and has since built a diverse career spanning R&D, operations, marketing, and business development. Over the past year, his focus has been on developing new products at Itasa’s Querétaro facility, helping customers grow through innovation. Leading R&D efforts in Querétaro, John works closely with colleagues in Spain, making his role highly collaborative and global. By working across regions and functions, he helps move new ideas forward and ensures solutions stay closely aligned with customer needs. Outside the lab, John is a lifelong learner and self described “habitual hobbyist.” From farming and woodworking to fishing, hunting, and even making maple syrup, his curiosity extends well beyond work. John’s experience, curiosity, and collaborative mindset continue to drive innovation across Itasa’s release liner business.

🌟 Putting Our Values Into Action: Daniel Omotere 📍 Alpharetta, GA When a threat actor impersonated Mativ through a fraudulent domain and fake LinkedIn outreach, Daniel acted quickly and decisively. He coordinated with security partners to take down the domain at the source, partnered closely with the HR and talent teams to support affected candidates, and gathered the documentation needed to stop the attack. Daniel’s actions are a strong example of what it means to Make It Happen — acting with intent, collaborating across teams, and delivering results.
