  • A new project is ready for construction.   Site installation accuracy begins long before construction starts. Through expert engineering, detailing, and fabrication, each LBS load-bearing wall panel is custom-built to integrate perfectly into the building system. This rigorous upfront preparation eliminates on-site cutting, minimizes material waste, and prevents costly field adjustments.

  • Details matter especially in high-density urban environments where space is limited and complexity is high. This project pushed both design and construction coordination to the next level. Built within a tight urban footprint, every square foot required deliberate planning, disciplined sequencing, and precise execution. The structure features a load-bearing steel stud system integrated with a composite floor assembly, along with precast and cast-in-place balconies below. Numerous overhangs, step-ins, occupied roof areas, cantilevers, and pop-up roof elements introduced significant structural and detailing complexity. The real challenge was in the transitions where systems intersect and geometry shifts. These critical junctions demanded rigorous engineering, meticulous detailing, and coordinated site execution. In complex projects like this, precision defines success. We’re proud of the team for embracing the technical demands and delivering a high-quality result by staying focused on the details.

  • At Tresah West in Victoria, the architectural balcony design presented us with a unique structural challenge and no standard precedent. The LBS structural engineering team worked in close collaboration with the architects to bridge the gap between complex drawings and physical reality, ensuring every detail was built to last. This project is a perfect example of what happens when architectural ambition meets engineering creativity.

  • As 2025 comes to an end, we want to pause and simply say thank you. Our LBS team is spread across different provinces, so being able to meet in person means so much to us. We talked, laughed, shared what inspired us in 2025, and ended the year with excitement for what 2026 will bring. This year, we refreshed our website, completed many meaningful projects, and built many great relationships with our partners along the way. Every step was made possible by the people behind it. We’re truly grateful for the teamwork, support, and effort everyone brought into 2025. Wishing you all a warm, joyful Christmas and a restful holiday season! Here’s to more growth, connection, and good moments together in 2026. Merry Christmas 🎄

  • Current progress at the Courtenay Daycare site! 🏗️ As a childcare facility, this project requires stringent fire safety standards. At LBS, we specialize in high-performance load-bearing steel stud framing that meets and exceeds Canadian building code requirements for non-combustible structures. Whether it’s a specialized daycare or assisted living, our system provides full compliance with non-combustible mandates. Great to see our team’s professional execution in action on-site!

In this issue, we highlight meaningful milestones from our team and project sites, including a special celebration of Kidus Kebede’s P.Eng. designation — a noteworthy achievement that reflects his dedication and the strength of our engineering practice. You’ll also find project updates from Duncan, Courtenay, and Kamloops, where LBS continues to support safe, efficient, and consistent construction across Canada. Thank you for being part of our community. We look forward to keeping you connected with more progress and stories as we continue building smarter and better together.

  • Construction at Canary Lofts is progressing well, with the full structural frame now in place and interior spaces beginning to take shape. Steel stud walls and floor joists have been completed through the upper levels, creating clear open floor plates and strong visibility into the layout of the future suites. On the exterior, window installation and building envelope work are advancing steadily, with sheathing, air barrier, and detailing underway across the facade. Balcony slabs are also being installed, marking another key milestone for the project. With both structural and envelope scopes moving forward in parallel, Canary Lofts is transitioning into its next phase of construction—bringing the project closer to occupancy and adding new, safe rental housing to the Kamloops community.
