Big news! The Immigrant Services Department partnered with Skidmore College to launch English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Conversation Partners. For ten weeks, Skidmore students helped our ESOL learners practice English and volunteered to gather key info about North Country immigrants. Both groups benefited: our ESOL students gained valuable practice, while Skidmore students deepened their understanding of immigration in Saratoga and connected classroom learning to real-world work at LifeWorks. Special thanks to Dr. Amon Emeka, Associate Professor and incoming Sociology Chair, for supporting this project. Want to be a conversation partner or volunteer? Email immigrantservices@lifeworksaction.org. #communityengagement #partnership #skidmorecollege #appliedsociology ¡Grandes noticias! Our Soup Kitchen is not just about the meal. It’s also about connection. One of our volunteers shared how some guests come not only for food, but for the chance to be around others and feel part of a community. Watch the video to hear from our volunteer Dale and her experience at the Soup Kitchen. 💛 #CommunityActionMonth #LifeWorks #NeighborsHelpingNeighbors #SoupKitchen
