At LGA, we believe leadership extends beyond the walls of our studio. Today, we want to celebrate Jorge and his continued commitment to the Latino Youth Leadership Conference, where he has been involved for more than eight years and currently serves as a Program Coordinator. Through his involvement, Jorge helps empower and inspire students across Nevada by creating opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and personal growth. His dedication to serving others reflects the same passion he brings to architecture—designing with intention and creating meaningful connections within our communities. We are proud to have Jorge on our team and grateful for the positive impact he continues to make both inside and outside of LGA. Thank you, Jorge, for showing us that great leadership starts with showing up for others.

This summer, we're grateful to have two talented emerging professionals as part of the LGA team. A big thank you to our summer work-study student, Adyson, and our summer intern, Camille, for bringing curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm to the office each day. From project work and research to team collaboration and learning opportunities, they've jumped in with a willingness to grow and contribute. At LGA, we believe in investing in the next generation of designers, thinkers, and community builders. Watching students develop their skills, gain confidence, and explore the profession is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. Thank you, Adyson and Camille, for spending part of your summer with us. We can't wait to see where your journeys take you next.

Today we say farewell—for now—to our very own Kayla LaRose. Kayla was recently accepted into the 2026 Venice Studio and will be spending nearly a month abroad studying, collaborating, and expanding her knowledge alongside fellow designers from around the world. Hosted in the heart of Venice, Italy, Venice Studio brings together emerging designers and leading international firms for an immersive experience centered on mentorship, design exploration, cultural exchange, and professional growth. Participants work closely with renowned architects while developing projects that respond to the unique challenges and opportunities of one of the world's most inspiring cities. We are incredibly proud to support opportunities like this that encourage lifelong learning, curiosity, and personal growth. We know Kayla will return with fresh perspectives, new experiences, and plenty of inspiration to share with the team. Congratulations, Kayla! 🌳 Can trees really cool our cities? A global study led by the University of Cambridge has analysed 182 scientific papers since 2010 to assess how effectively trees lower urban temperatures. Key findings: 🌡️ Trees can reduce pedestrian-level air temperatures by up to 12°C. 🏙️ In 83% of 110 cities, tree planting brought the hottest month’s average temperature below 26°C. ☀️ Cooling is strongest in hot, dry climates (≈9°C reduction), moderate in temperate zones (≈6°C), and more limited in humid regions. 🌙 However, trees can slightly raise night-time temperatures — from +0.4°C in dry to +1.5°C in temperate cities — posing trade-offs for heat recovery. 💡 Urban greening isn’t one-size-fits-all — it’s about matching tree traits and city design to local climate realities. ➡️ https://ow.ly/JLlw50XhnfH #NatureBasedSolutions #BeatTheHeat
