Building something on the side while working full-time? Tomorrow evening I’m doing a Show & Tell on how I’ve been building TruTalk - a conversation ritual app - in the margins of a full-time job (architect by day, building at night). No fluff, just: • where the idea came from • what it’s actually like doing both • what’s worked, what hasn’t Then we’ll open it up, test the app live, and see what holds up (and what doesn’t). If you’re building, thinking about it, or just curious how messy the process really is - come through. 📅 Tuesday, 14 April ⏰ 17:00 – 18:00 CEST 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dWnSc6aP See you then! 😄 Check out the app in the mean-time here: https://lnkd.in/dcw9jCPG

What makes people fascinating? For me, it's curiosity and self-expression. Curiosity is what makes us lean in a little closer. Expression is what fulfills our need to be seen. And yet, modern life has a way of dulling both. We are constantly surrounded by: updates, pressure, productivity, survival, responsibility. We talk all day, but still rarely get to what actually matters - deepening our connection with others, That tension is a big part of why I started building TruTalk. By day, I work as an architect. By night, I’ve been building a startup around a simple question: What if it were easier for people to move from small talk to meaningful connection? That is the idea behind TruTalk: a conversation ritual app designed to help people have better real-life conversations with a little more permission to be real. This coming Tuesday, I’ll be hosting an hour-long session with Brightroom and Irina Alexandra, where I’ll share: • why I built TruTalk & what I’ve learned along the way • what it’s like building something alongside a full-time job • and then we’ll test the app live together as a community It’s a chance to play, reflect, have an interesting conversation, and help shape something built around better human connection moving forward. If any part of this speaks to you, join us, Show & Tell: https://lnkd.in/dWnSc6aP Tuesday, 14 April, 17:00 – 18:00 CEST Come curious. Leave inspired. (And maybe, with one conversation that offers a new perspective) — If you're a company, or a startup looking to enhance Workspace collaborations or Leadership, you can also check out Irina Alexandra's platform here: https://lnkd.in/dNV_HWcB

Really thoughtful reflection from Irina Alexandra- this was an important conversation to be had in today's times. We were glad to collaborate with the Brightroom team and contribute a few small TruTalk icebreakers to the event. It’s always interesting to see how even a simple question can shift the tone in a room and open up more honest dialogue. Culture often feels like something abstract or out of reach, but as you said, it’s shaped in small moments - how we show up, how we respond, how we choose to engage with each other. Great conversations often start with a little curiosity, Appreciate you creating the space for this, Looking forward to more collabs in the future!

If you work in a company with a toxic culture, what do you do? - this was one of the themes that surfaced across multiple conversations during the Culture Under Pressure event we hosted together with Thunder Team last week. In the attempt to answer this question I see so many people facing the same dilemma: - Do I fight to change something (which can often feel like watering a desert)?  - Do I leave? (With no guarantee that the new place will be any different)? What I see happening more often than not though, is something in between. People don’t leave but are not mentally invested either. They show up and do bare minimum. (Or take one sick leave after the other and not show up at all) And that’s not a great situation to be in, neither for the person nor for the company. So what can we do? Paraphrasing the wisdom of a number of smart people - instead of changing the world, change yourself. Are we becoming part of the problem or part of the solution? We might not be able to change others but we can always choose how we show up ourselves.  PS: I personally believe that culture is influenced by every single person in the organisation and we often underestimate the ripple effect even “small” actions can have (eg choosing to help a colleague when you are really busy, making a silly joke in a team chat, being honest when it’s easier to lie). If you work in a company with a toxic culture, what do you do? Big thank you to the amazing speakers Sara Dietrich (Frisk), Miguel Brion, Sandra Strauss and Loek Hageman.  To Thunder for being a great partner to work with.  To TruTalk for providing event ice breakers.  And to Mindspace for hosting us.

You’ve known them your whole life. Or at least, that’s what it feels like. The same faces. The same roles. The same stories… repeated the same way. But every family has things that were never asked. Moments that were lived, but never really shared. You’re sitting together. Maybe after dinner. Maybe in the living room. Some are on their phone. One initiates, an introspective question is asked. "What is the most important thing your parents taught you?" Simple. But different. Someone answers. Not as a parent. Not as a sibling. Just as a person. And suddenly, you’re hearing something new from someone you thought you already knew. The room shifts. A story you’ve never heard. A version of them you never met. Because family isn’t just history. It’s perspective. And sometimes, all it takes is the right question to bring it back to life. — Tomorrow, the TruTalk BETA closes. After that, Family Ties® won’t be freely available. If there’s a story still waiting in your family, this might be the moment to hear it. https://lnkd.in/dcw9jCPG Listen differently.

You’re sitting across from someone you love. Sometimes it’s not silence… it’s waiting A half-finished glass. A slow evening. Your knees almost touching under the table. You’ve said everything you needed to say today. But not everything you’ve felt. So you decide to start something different. Not a big moment. Not a serious talk. Just a small ritual. One of you begins. You answer a little more honestly than usual. They notice. They listen a little more closely than usual. You feel it. There’s a pause. But this time, it doesn’t slip away. It lingers. And something opens. Not all at once. Just enough. Because closeness isn’t built in grand gestures. It lives in these quiet, deliberate moments where you choose to really meet each other. — If there’s something you’ve been meaning to say to someone who matters, this might be the moment. 5 days left. After this, the TruTalk BETA closes: https://lnkd.in/dcw9jCPG and Date Nights® won’t be freely available. Start a ritual this Friday night. See where it leads.

Networking isn’t awkward. The way we do it is. Picture this, You arrive at a networking/casual event. A room full of people. A talk. A break. Time to “connect.” You meet someone interesting. But it’s the same question, over and over: “So, what do you do?” "Oh yeah, I'm in tech, what about you?" Generic questions get Generic answers, Nothing really sticks. You move onto the next person. Now change one thing. A high-energy prompt: “What’s something you enjoy that people wouldn’t expect just by looking at you?” A creative reply: “Sudoku. Once I start, I can’t stop.” People laugh. They lean in. Someone asks, "So you're probably good at problem-solving?" Suddenly, it’s not generic anymore. It’s personal. Conversations start faster. Energy builds. Because connection doesn’t need time. It needs permission. — Sound good? There's 6 days left. After this, the TruTalk beta closes https://lnkd.in/dcw9jCPG and these modes won’t be freely available. Try Event Icebreakers® mode while it’s still open! Speak up more at events, Start differently!

Before the doomscroll… there was this. Being present Imagine it's Friday night with friends, You're playing "Spin the Bottle" No phones in hand. No one half-listening. No second screen pulling you away. Just a circle. A spin. And everyone watching. It slows. Wobbles. Points. A question appears. Wherever it lands, that person answers. At first, it’s jokes. Then something shifts. Stories come out of nowhere. Someone gets real. The room leans in. Because when nothing is competing for attention, people show up. — If you miss that feeling, try Spin the Bottle® mode on TruTalk. We're extending the BETA till Friday! https://lnkd.in/dcw9jCPG Start with this: If you could script the perfect day off, what would happen? Spin once. See what comes out. Have fun!

Honesty gets interesting when the spotlight is on you, Let me explain. Two people sit facing each other. Someone takes the "Hot Seat". One fiery question. One player. No hiding. They can answer honestly or eloquently. Or they can play it safe. But here's the catch, The other player gets to 𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗘 the response, whether it was: Warm 🕯️ Hot ♨️ On Fire 🔥 Suddenly the conversation has 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀. Not to win, mind you (though there 𝙞𝙨 a winner 😉) But to see how far honesty can go. The questions get hotter. The answers get sharper. The laughs get louder. — If you’re ready to take the spotlight, try the 𝗛𝗼𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘁® mode on the TruTalk Beta webapp LIVE now, https://lnkd.in/dcw9jCPG Are you competitive? Perfect, Take the Hot Seat. See how hot the conversation gets.

The first 30 seconds will feel awkward. Good. Picture this: Four people. One real question get's asked. Small talk gives way to space. Silence. Eye contact. No script. Someone almost jokes. Almost fills the gap. But if it’s not awkward, you’re probably still performing. So stay. Let the silence stretch. Then someone answers - honestly. The room shifts. The second person goes deeper. Now you’re not performing. You’re present. Something is shared. Something is learned. Laughter finds its way in. Awkward isn’t the outcome. It’s the doorway. You see, People still love genuine conversations. They just don’t get many of them anymore. — If you want to feel that shift, try Go Deeper® mode on TruTalk BETA live now at https://lnkd.in/dcw9jCPG Start with this: 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘷𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘺? Let's skip the small talk, Let's TruTalk! 🙌
