Give it a go for yourself at Layla.ai (link pinned in the first comment) Will I see you there? ✈️

Everyone is obsessed with replacing humans with AI. But after seeing people book $30k safaris, honeymoons, and once-in-a-lifetime family trips through Layla, we learned something important: AI alone is not the unlock. Travel is emotional. It’s personal. It’s high stakes. People don’t just book because the itinerary is good. They book because they feel understood. Because they trust the recommendation. Because someone gave them the confidence to take the trip. AI makes travel planning faster, smarter, and infinitely more personalized. But the magic happens when you combine AI with real people who bring empathy, taste, reassurance, and lived experience. That’s the future we believe in. Not AI vs humans. Humans amplified by AI.

This weekend, I asked Layla AI Travel Agent to plan my wife's birthday. No destination. Just "somewhere romantic, warm, great food and less busy in September." Here's what happened. Over two days, Layla asked questions I hadn't thought to ask myself. What does Pia really like? Do we like driving? Is she a foodie? How important is the destination versus the hotel? Does she like painting? Do we have a maximum travel time we're ok with? Questions that made me think about my wife and what we love to do together. I found myself getting more excited about the trip and enjoying the process of planning the trip. By day two, Layla had narrowed it to three options I never would have Googled: Puglia, Oman, and the Azores. Each came with reasoning. Each felt considered. Today I think I'll book Puglia. Flights, hotel, restaurant reservations, car hire. All taken care of by Layla, helping me through the process end-to-end. No human involved. No stress. This is the part most people miss about AI travel planning. If you're using the right tool, it should be fun. The experience should help you better understand yourself and the kind of trip you want to do- even if you have no idea when you start. The first wave of travel AI was built for speed. Give me dates, here's a flight, done. But we didn't do that with Layla. Despite a lot (and I mean a lot) of push back from most venture capital firms we pitched, we focused on something different: speed-to-trust, not speed-to-booking. The tool that earns your confidence through patience and iteration will win the traveller. The one that rushes you to a booking link won't. I'd really appreciate anyone who wants to try Layla, to give her a go and share any feedback. We're always looking to improve and to hear how your experience has been 😎 🏝️ 🙏 https://layla.ai/

Ask ChatGPT to plan a trip to Thailand and you'll get a thoughtful itinerary. Good structure. Reasonable suggestions. Helpful context. But you can't book it instantly. The flights aren't real. The hotels aren't checked for availability. The prices are estimates. The whole thing is a starting point, not a solution. At Layla AI Travel Agent, we built vertical AI that closes the loop, so we can be the decision layer in travel. Same prompt in us & ChatGPT: "Island hopping Thailand in May, best value from San Francisco." Our response includes: → Actual flights with real prices and availability → Hotels with live inventory and reviews → Activities that fit the timing and route → Transport logic between islands → A booking flow thats instant Not only that- if you don't get what you like, you can ask. And asking is what our users do most with us, because asking leads to hyper-personalisation and trips that are truly tailored to your needs. Generic AI gives you a plan. Vertical AI gives you a trip. The difference isn't intelligence. It's integration. We've connected reasoning to inventory, pricing, and fulfilment. That's what makes the output actionable instead of advisory. Thinking is valuable. Getting there is the product 😎 🏝️

The most valuable layer in travel isn't inventory. It's not fulfilment either. Both of those are commoditised. It's the decision layer- the interface where travelers figure out what they actually want before they book anything. Think about how travel works today: Airlines own seats. Hotels own rooms. OTAs own search results and booking flows. But none of them own the moment where a traveler decides: → Where to go → When to go → What matters most → What trade-offs to make That decision moment has historically been scattered across Google searches, group chats, spreadsheets, and 47 open browser tabs. When we created Layla AI Travel Agent, we believed whoever owned the decision layer would have the most influence over the transaction. This is the bet we're making: the future of travel isn't about more search results. It's about helping travelers decide, and then connecting those decisions directly to bookings. The interface that understands intent will shape where traveler spend goes. Have a look at slide 4 for how real customers are using Layla to plan complex trips.

Travel planning has been the “holy grail” of travel for decades. Hundreds of teams have tried to solve it - going back to 1998, when Expedia first brought trip planning online. When I started, I was told this is exactly the category to stay away from. But to me, that was the signal. If so many people have tried to solve something for so long, the problem is real. Even today, with tools like ChatGPT, you can generate a trip in seconds. But turning that into something you actually trust and book? Still broken. Because no system truly understands you: your preferences your trade-offs what you actually care about For years, the model was: search → filter → compare → book But trip planning was never linear. It’s messy. Context-heavy. Constantly changing. What’s changed now is the interface. We can move to: conversation → understanding → trust → book Where the system doesn’t just respond - it learns, adapts, and helps you decide. That’s what makes this moment different - and what makes it so exciting to be working on this at Layla AI Travel Agent. Thanks to Siew Hoon Yeoh for the piece: https://lnkd.in/dt6g62ZC

  • Together, we’ve made 1,527,367 meaningful trips happen around the globe. That is 1,527,367 moments of escape, reconnection, “this is exactly what we needed.” The travel funnel isn’t just evolving. It’s being rebuilt around people.

The travel funnel is flipping in real time and it’s incredible to watch. For years it looked like this search → filters → 20 tabs → compare → book Across 30M+ travel messages on Layla AI Travel Agent, we’re seeing something different conversation → understanding → trust → booking Travellers don’t begin with destinations. They begin with situations. “Two kids. October. Somewhere warm but not chaotic.” “I need to unwind after a stressful week.” “We want something that feels special.” More than half share their why before their where. Most plan flights, hotels and experiences in a single conversation. They are not looking for more options → they are looking for guidance. When a system understands your situation, remembers your preferences, and adjusts in real time, trust is established. The attached case study is based on anonymous, aggregated insights from 30M+ messages and €1B+ worth of trips generated. Comment INSIGHTS if you want the deeper breakdown. Travel isn’t logistics. It’s identity. And the future of travel belongs to systems that understand that.

  • Someone had to say it. Travel discovery is broken. Every booking site shows you the same hotels, the same beaches, the same filters that make you feel like you’re choosing, when in reality, you’re not. We’ve seen this pattern a thousand times. People think they’re planning a trip. They’re actually just sorting data. Layla.ai was born from that frustration. Because we don’t need more search bars. We need smarter inspiration. Our goal? Turn “Where should I go?” into an actual conversation. Layla learns what you love, surf towns, eco stays, local food, and shows you places you didn’t even know existed. The internet made travel accessible. AI can make it personal again. #traveltech #travelAI #LaylaAI #travelindustry
