Being the birthplace of Bharatratna Shri. P.V. Kane this sub- centre of K.K.S.U is named as Bharatratna Panduranga Vaman Kane study Centre, Ratnagiri. The first official sub-centre of Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Ramtek, the only Sanskrit University in Maharashtra, located at central part of Ratnagiri city. Initially, the sub-centre has taken shape in an area of more than 20000 square feet, equipped with computer lab, digital classroom, Yoga room and many other facilities. This sub-centre will be the Contact centre of the university, Open and distance learning centre, Reserch center as well as Educational centre. About Bharatratna M.M. P.V. Kane: Renowned Orientalist and a keen student of Dharmashastra, Dr. P. V. Kane hailed from Ratnagiri District. He did his education in Maharashtra after which he taught in the schools in Ratnagiri and Mumbai. While practicing Law he keenly observed the relevancy of Hindu Dharmashastra with Modern Law. His Five Volumes’ massive literature on ‘History of Dharmashastra’ was the result of restless efforts that he took. Along with this, he also wrote on many relevant subjects in that era, like, relevancy of Hindu Dharmashastra and Hindu Law, Vedic fundamentals of Hindu Law, History of Sanskrit Poetics, and many more may be added.
