If you're a programmer, you can probably survive a few rounds of bugs, regressions, broken features, dependency issues, and architectural mistakes. You have the technical knowledge to diagnose problems, patch things, and make informed decisions. But if you're not a programmer, the situation is very different. When things start breaking, you're suddenly dependent on someone else to understand a codebase they didn't build. Most experienced developers don't enjoy inheriting broken projects. The few who are willing to take them on will first spend days or weeks understanding what exists before they can even start fixing it. And that often costs more than what you originally paid to build it. AI has made building software cheaper. It has not made maintaining software cheaper. The real cost of software isn't in the first version.
