Last week, we held Venture Balkans: Unlocking the Value of Innovation. A huge thank you to our partners See Up, NALED, and CDT for making it possible! At the event, Innotechnics CEO Arseniy Dabbakh shared insights on the regional venture market, Crunchbase shared global trends, and promising startups pitched their solutions to corporations. A few key insights from the report: 💰 The Balkans have attracted ~$2.5B in VC funding across ~2.8k deals, with ~500 investors participating, including top international VCs. 🇷🇸 + 🇷🇴 Serbia and Romania have become the undisputed innovation hubs, generating over half of all new startups in the region. 📈 70% of Balkan startups are building solutions for businesses, not consumers. This makes it a promising "sandbox" for corporate innovation. What Arseniy Dabbakh, CEO of Innotechnics, shared at the Balkan Venture Capital Event organized by Pannonian Ventures and Amit, Pollak, Matalon & Co: 🔹 The region is now home to 7,000+ startups and already counts 7 unicorns with a combined valuation of ~$24B. 🔹 AI/ML and SaaS are leading in deal count, while Enterprise Tech and Fintech top the charts in total investment volume. 🔹 Despite the momentum, the Balkans still account for a small share of total European VC funding. 📊 We'll be sharing more market insights this fall with the launch of our upcoming report “Venture Balkans”.
