One of our favourite traditions is bringing together two placement cohorts at the point where one chapter ends and another begins.   Each year, colleagues from across our UK offices come together to celebrate our outgoing placement students, welcome our new cohort, and strengthen the connections that make our community what it is. It's a relaxed evening that reflects what our placement programme is all about: building relationships, sharing experiences and supporting one another to succeed.   As part of the evening, our departing students reflected on the experiences that have shaped them over the past year, the skills they've developed and the advice they'd pass on to those following in their footsteps. Our new students then introduced themselves and shared what they're hoping to learn and achieve during the year ahead.   The event also highlights something we're particularly proud of. Many colleagues who first joined Informed as placement students are now graduate consultants and permanent members of the team, welcoming the next cohort as they begin their own journey. Seeing that progression year after year is a reminder that, for many, a placement is the start of a much longer career with us.   A huge thank you to our 2025–26 placement students for everything you've contributed. Investing in our people's growth means creating opportunities to learn from others, build new connections and broaden their perspectives. We were delighted to see Cora Shepherd, Austen Wells, Christopher Graham-Ozanne and Tarun Dosanjh attending the latest Young Professionals Reception at Australia House, hosted by the Australia-United Kingdom Chamber of Commerce.   The evening featured a fireside chat with Jemma Sbeg, creator of The Psychology of Your 20s podcast and author of Person in Progress. She shared thoughtful reflections on navigating your twenties, with one message in particular standing out: the value of building a broad and diverse network, and the role those relationships can play in shaping both personal and professional growth.   The team also enjoyed the opening remarks from Elisabeth Bowes PSM, Australia's Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, who reflected on the importance of strengthening the longstanding relationship between Australia and the UK. That emphasis on meaningful relationships resonates with us. AI is becoming an established part of user research, helping teams analyse larger volumes of data, identify patterns more quickly and spend less time on repetitive tasks. As its use grows, the focus must extend beyond efficiency. The real challenge is ensuring AI supports research that remains ethical, trustworthy and grounded in evidence. That means protecting research data, being transparent about how AI has been used, validating outputs against the original evidence, and applying human judgement throughout the research process. These are not optional safeguards, they are fundamental to producing insights that organisations can trust. This is particularly important where research informs decisions about public services, healthcare and other areas that have a direct impact on people's lives. Healthcare organisations are being asked to respond more quickly than ever to new medicines, technologies and changing patient needs, often while operating under increasing financial and operational pressure. That is why horizon scanning is becoming increasingly important, not only as a way to identify emerging medicines and technologies, but as a capability that helps regulators, NHS organisations, policymakers and industry partners plan, coordinate and respond to emergfing healthcare issues and supply chain challenges with greater confidence. Drawing on our work with NICE - National Institute for Health and Care Excellence to support the modernisation of UK PharmaScan, our latest article explores how horizon scanning capabilities are creating a more resilient and responsive healthcare system. It looks at the role of discovery, stakeholder alignment, and service design in shaping services that can support faster access to innovation, better use of existing treatments, and stronger system-wide decision-making. Ultimately, supply chain resilience isn't built solely through better visibility - it comes from trust and from being better informed. This trust is built through the ability to interpret complexity at scale, and connecting insight, people, and decision-making across organisational boundaries. Last week, we were delighted to welcome clients, partners, friends and colleagues from across the UK, Southeast Asia and Australia to our celebratory annual reception at The Cinnamon Club in Westminster. As London became a gathering point for global conversations around technology, innovation and economic growth, it was a pleasure to bring together leaders from across government, industry and the technology sector, united by a shared ambition to create positive impact through digital transformation. The evening was opened by Elizabeth Vega OBE DUniv, who reflected on the importance of relationships in international business and diplomacy. As Elizabeth put it, "you know you're a real Aussie friend when you're invited to their BBQ. You know you're our friend when you're invited to curry and bubbles." There was a wonderfully warm atmosphere in the room complemented by outstanding food as always. In his speech, Seth Finegan highlighted the importance of investing in the communities where we operate, recognising that lasting impact comes not only from the technology we deliver, but from the relationships we build and the contribution we make to the people, organisations and places we serve. We were particularly pleased to spend time with colleagues and friends from the Department for Business and Trade, Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, Government Digital Service, Australia-UK Chamber of Commerce, UK-ASEAN Business Council (UKABC), techUK and Digital Leaders, alongside many valued clients and partners. The event was a powerful reminder that mutual growth is built on trust, collaboration and shared ambition. Community, nature, and giving back. We were delighted to join Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) for a Giving Back Day in Manchester's Medlock Valley, organised by Step Up MCR in support of Friends of Medlock Valley. More than 20 volunteers from Informed and Defra spent the day helping to improve and maintain the community green space, while also hearing directly from the residents and volunteers who have helped transform the valley over many years. As well as making a practical contribution, the day provided an opportunity to strengthen connections, spend time together outside our usual working environment, and support a project that continues to make a real difference to our local community.
