At the Global Nobel Laureates Assembly on Artificial Intelligence and Nuclear War, ICCROM Director-General Aruna Francesca Maria G. co-chaired the session "Faith Traditions and the Moral Imagination of Peace". As artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes our world, the discussion highlighted that the question is no longer only what technology can do, but what kind of humanity we choose to become. The Director-General reflected on the importance of dialogue, compassion, moral responsibility, authenticity, solidarity and ethical leadership, emphasizing that cultural heritage preserves the memories, spiritual values and the human virtues that connect us across generations and reinforce our shared humanity. At ICCROM, we believe that heritage plays a vital role in shaping a more responsible, ethical and sustainable future. #ICCROM #CulturalHeritage #ArtificialIntelligence #Ethics #Dialogue #GlobalNobelLaureatesAssembly
14 July 2026, Borgo Laudato Si', Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo, Vaticano. Today, I had the privilege of co-chairing the session “Faith Traditions and the Moral Imagination of Peace” as part of the Global Nobel Laureates Assembly on Artificial Intelligence and Nuclear War in Castel Gandolfo. At a time when humanity faces unprecedented technological and geopolitical challenges, conversations that bring together ethics, science, diplomacy and faith are more important than ever. As artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes our world, the question is no longer only what technology can do, but what kind of humanity we choose to become. During the discussion, I reflected on a simple but fundamental idea: peace is something we build every day through relationships, dialogue, compassion, moral authority, care and solidarity. To do so we need to educate youth to listen to their inner spiritual voices and virtues and let these deep human values counterbalance artificiality with authenticity. Heritage is deeply a part of this human transformation. By protecting and safeguarding heritage, we preserve the memories, traditions, values and relationships that deeply connect us across generations, strengthening trust between communities and sustaining our shared humanity. My Vision is clear: Ethical and Responsible Leadership is the way forward. It was an honour to contribute to this important dialogue and to exchange perspectives with World Leaders committed to building a more peaceful, responsible, ethical and sustainable future. @NobelAssembly #ICCROM #CulturalHeritage #Peacebuilding #ArtificialIntelligence #Ethics #Care #Dialogue #GlobalNobelLaureatesAssembly
