  • “For me, it is working in an international environment, as it means you have the opportunity to learn all the time because you are constantly being challenged.” Meet Lene Gustavsen, Senior HSEQ Manager, based in Copenhagen, Denmark. As part of HELM’s HSEQ team, Lene works on quality, environment and safety – helping shape safer workplaces and responsible operations across teams and regions. Looking ahead, she sees how HELM can contribute to a better future by continuing its cooperation with Plan International and driving ambitious climate targets. 📌 In our series #FacesOfHELM, you meet HELM employees from all around the world, sharing their experiences in their mother tongue. #HELMAG #HELM #TogetherForTomorrowToday

  • Strengthening dialogue on critical minerals HELM AG was pleased to join an executive-level lunch at the British Embassy in Berlin, focused on critical minerals and supply chains.   Stephen Elgueta Wallis, Executive Vice President Energy Materials, joined the discussion on behalf of HELM, alongside representatives from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Volkswagen AG, BMW Group, and a broader group of stakeholders across the automotive, materials and industry association landscape.   We are also pleased to see our partner Altilium Clean Technology contributing to the exchange. Our collaboration in lithium refining from end-of-life batteries and production scrap, through LevertonHELM in the UK, underlines the importance of cross-border partnerships in advancing circular solutions.   The event marks another touchpoint in HELM’s ongoing engagement in UK–German collaboration. #HELM #HELMAG #Togetherfortomorrowtoday #Battery #Lithium

We need to get clear about where we stand Too often, sustainability discussions remain cautious, overly balanced, and deliberately vague. But that won`t bring us forward. Progress never comes from neutrality. It comes from taking a position. From engaging in real discourse. From challenging each other and being willing to have uncomfortable conversations. Thank you for doing exactly that Auma Obama, Niels Annen, Rüdiger T. Schöch, Ralf Südhoff and Cornelius Göbel. At our panel in the “Future Garden” of Hamburg Sustainability Conference we discussed the challenging future of sustainable development.   Two things really stuck for me: - Joint Business over “Helping” Sustainable development should not just be giving from the outside. It should be about building businesses together. Working with local partners. Entering markets jointly. Creating opportunities and value together. The shift may sound subtle, but it changes everything: from dependency to partnership, from support to shared ownership. - Stand for something Companies need to get clear about their role, responsibility, and limitations. Not only economically, but socially, and politically as well. Being vague avoids friction; and – even worse – it avoids meaningful connection, built on hard discussions. Not every position will be perfect from the start. Yet being transparent about directions, values, standpoints, and ambitions is the prerequisite for partnering right.   To demonstrate our efforts, I had the pleasure to kick off the outdoor engagement area with Auma and our partners Plan International Deutschland e.V. and HSV, creating a shared moment of dialogue in action, highlighting our commitment to female empowerment and equal opportunities. For HELM AG, I highlighted the role of the connector and enabler. We want to act, not just observe, as active participants in markets, partnerships, and joint initiatives pushing sustainable business forward. Looking forward to hearing your take on sustainable development in companies.

  • How can we turn sustainability ambitions into real progress?  This was one of the key questions at the Hamburg Sustainability Conference 2026, bringing together leaders from business, politics, academia and civil society.  For HELM AG, the answer starts with collaboration. It is a core element of our HELM 2030 ambition: creating value for both profit and planet. Representing HELM, CEO Stephan Schnabel and CDO Daniel Tepe contributed to the dialogue on how businesses can drive sustainable transformation in a complex and resource-constrained world.  In the panel discussion “Re-Doing Growth,” Stephan Schnabel highlighted a critical point: Economic development within planetary boundaries requires more than innovation. It depends on strong international cooperation and enabling frameworks that translate ambition into action.  Beyond the conference stage, HELM also engaged with the public at Hamburg’s “Future Garden“ together with our long-standing partners Plan International Deutschland e.V. and HSV. This included a workshop, a football training session for girls and a joint panel discussion on the future of sustainable development beyond 2030.  In this dialogue, Daniel Tepe challenged a common pattern in sustainability debates: progress does not come from neutrality. He emphasized that real impact requires companies to take a clear stance, and to move beyond “helping” towards building true business partnerships that create value locally and globally.  Progress doesn’t come from ambition alone. It comes from working together. Thank you to the Hamburg Sustainability Week and all partners involved.    Photos: Hamburg Sustainability Conference / Plan International  #HELM #HELMAG #Togetherfortomorrowtoday #HamburgSustainabilityConference #HSC2026 #HELM2030

  • From Hamburg to Indonesia: turning partnership into impact ⚽ Experiencing impact first-hand changes perspective. Together with HSV and Plan International Deutschland e.V., HELM travelled to Singapore and Indonesia, where the joint delegation saw how our partnership creates real opportunities for children and communities by engaging directly with local Plan International projects. Over several days, local girls’ teams in Soe and Jakarta trained alongside the HSV delegation. But it wasn’t just about football skills. Conversations around teamwork, leadership and personal development were just as important, showing how sport can open up new perspectives. Spending time on the ground made one thing especially clear: when girls are given the right environment, they build confidence, develop leadership skills and start shaping their own futures. For us at HELM, this is what partnership is about: translating commitment into real impact. Experiences like this reinforce our ambition under HELM2030 to empower girls and young women and help create more equal opportunities worldwide. #Powerofpartnership #Togehterfortomorrowtoday

💙 #nurderHSV __ Fotos: HSV / Pascal Griesel, Johanna Schelp

HSV visiting HELM Singapore As part of our long-standing partnership, we were glad to welcome an HSV delegation – including Christoph Rohmer, Rodolfo Cardoso and Anna Tegtmeier – to our HELM office in Singapore. The visit centred around our joint commitment with Plan International Deutschland e.V. and the role of football in Asia. One decision in this partnership was made very consciously: not to use the sleeve for HELM, but to give that space to Plan International, an organisation focused on advancing children’s rights and equality for girls. “For us at HELM, this is a clear commitment that we can make a difference not only in Germany, but worldwide,” says Stephan Schnabel. A perspective that continues to shape our partnership. More from this visit, including insights from the conversation, coming soon.🎥 #HELM #HELMAG #PowerofPartnership

The HELM Impact Report 2025 is out now, and I want to congratulate the teams for bringing it to life. Sustainable ambitions are under immense pressure worldwide. Despite all odds, we chose “progress” as the theme for 2025, and it resembles all actions HELM puts into place, progressing towards HELM 2030. My personal reading recommendation? The chapter "Biodiversity & Ecosystems (ESRS 4)", pp. 42. As a global chemical and agricultural distribution company, we are very aware of the impact that our activities and our industry have on biodiversity. More than that: Biodiversity loss has moved from a “sustainability topic” to an economic risk field, becoming the top two economic risk factor in a time horizon of the next ten years, according to World Economic Forum. Taking strategic action against biodiversity loss is therefore a core responsibility, not just in terms of sustainability, but also in terms of business. It is up to us, as players of the industry, to find – and offer – solutions that preserve biodiversity while driving economic growth. The biodiversity chapter also highlights examples for our way forward in agriculture, with #treatednitrogen products, #plantadvantage products, #biosolutions like Unium Bioscience Ltd, and #digitalsolutions like Plantix. Shifting an industry takes time, but I welcome everyone to join the journey we are on, demonstrating how innovative HELM moves forward, making sustainable business possible, and our company #futureready. What is your take on the urgency of biodiversity prevention? Dive right into the report below; the link is in the first comment.

"Even in a challenging year, we have stayed the course, guided by a clear vision and the firm conviction that sustainability strengthens our business." – Stephan Schnabel, CEO and owner of HELM AG.   While worldwide companies are stepping back from their sustainable ambitions, we at HELM confirm our direction and clear commitment with the HELM Impact Report 2025. With this year's edition, we strengthen our ESG reporting through more rigorous data, enhanced progress tracking, and additional governance KPIs.   Under the theme of "progress" the report collects all smaller and bigger achievements that have been built over the last year, bringing us closer to #HELM2030.    Take a closer look at what has changed and where we are heading next. #HELM #HELMAG #Togetherfortomorrowtoday

Foreign Trade Day 2026 Is Europe really falling behind in tech? I don’t think so. At Hamburg’s Chamber of Commerce (Handelskammer Hamburg), we tackled the provocative question: “Technologies of the Future – without Europe?” My short answer: No - but it’s more nuanced than that. Yes, Europe is under pressure. But we are far from out of the game. For companies that stay curious, focused, and pragmatic, this moment holds real opportunity. Here’s why: • #Innovation isn’t a fixed race: Especially in #AI, the landscape is evolving at an unprecedented speed. The next 18–24 months will fundamentally reshape how humans interact with technology, creating new entry points and advantages along the way. • #Focus remains key: Delivering on today’s business is essential. But it is equally critical to continuously scan and understand which technologies will matter in their context. • #Timing is strategy: It’s not just about if a technology is relevant but when and how to engage. Early doesn’t always win. Smart timing and choice does. • #Access beats ownership: The real question is no longer “How do we build this ourselves?” It’s: “Who is the best partner to get us there the fastest?”   One additional perspective I shared: European regulation is often framed as a burden. But approached strategically, it can unlock insights, sharpen priorities, and even create competitive advantage. At HELM AG, we experience this firsthand. For example, leveraging insights from our double materiality analysis doesn’t just fulfill requirements, it accelerates better decision-making. A big thank you to my fellow panelists for the great discussion Yannik Meffert, Dr. Robert Axmann, Elisabeth L'Orange, Cora Jungbluth 容恺桦 And now I’m curious. What is your take on rethinking Europe’s Tech Future? Fotocredit: Kati Jurischka / HK Hamburg
