  • Wells Fargo has trusted us with construction on multiple Chicago area branches over the years, and we just wrapped up two more: one in Evanston, one in Roscoe Village. Each project called for a different approach and presented different challenges. We are proud to have delivered the first ground-up Wells Fargo branch in Chicago at the newly opened Roscoe Village location. The Evanston branch, an interior renovation, is now open and operating as well. Different scopes, same result: two projects delivered on time in a quality manner for a long-term client.

  • We're honored to have partnered with Demeter Millwork on their new advanced manufacturing facility in Woodridge. Seeing the final result of this project is a proud milestone for our team. Thank you to Lucy Chang Evans, PE, MBA, PMP for joining us and for recognizing the positive impact this investment will have on DuPage County. Congratulations to Hans Fedderke and the entire Demeter team, we wish you continued success in your new home.

Last year, I attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Demeter Millwork’s new facility in Woodridge. Yesterday, I toured the spacious building with Helios Construction Services CEO Aash Desai and Demeter Millwork Principal Hans Fedderke. It looks amazing! They are almost to the finish line. Demeter Millwork makes custom cabinetry and specialty fixtures for commercial interiors throughout the U.S. Helios Construction Services is a general contractor that delivers commercial projects across retail, hospitality, multifamily, industrial, and institutional environments. The new Demeter Millwork facility in Woodridge takes advantage of energy efficiency measures and includes solar panels across the entire rooftop. They also have underground stormwater detention! Thank you to Aash and Hans for the tour. This business will be a tremendous asset to DuPage County. The new facility is proof that manufacturing can co-exist and thrive among commercial, residential, and government buildings.

  • After an extensive planning and preconstruction effort, we recently broke ground on a project we are especially proud to help bring to life. Firebird Community Arts new ground-up glass blowing facility is officially underway on Chicago’s West Side. Founded in 1990 and reimagined in 2020, Firebird Community Arts uses art as a tool for healing, connection, and opportunity for communities impacted by trauma across Chicago’s South and West Sides. This project reinforces an idea we have long practiced at Helios: successful projects are produced long before construction begins. From schematic design through groundbreaking, we embedded our project team into the preconstruction process to align vision, budget, constructability, procurement, and execution strategy. The goal was not simply to price drawings, but to help ensure the project was coordinated for real-world success once construction began. The best outcomes come from alignment early in the process, honest conversations during preconstruction, and diligence before work ever reaches the field. We are grateful to support an organization making such a meaningful impact across Chicago. Development Management Associates llc jason westrope, CRX, CDP, LEED AP BD+C Jonathan Bown, RIBA Pearl Dick

  • The most important thing to understand when building in an active senior living facility is that it's not just a construction site; it's also someone's home. That shapes everything – from how we schedule work, to how we manage noise and access, to how we communicate with staff and residents. The technical execution matters, but so does the awareness that people are living their daily lives around it.   We're back at Greenfields of Geneva with Life Space Communities, this time building out a new space for residents to gather, share a meal, and build the kind of daily routines that make a place feel like home. Senior living facilities are personal decisions for families, and we are proud that the clients we serve and the spaces we build reflect that. Proud to be working with SAS Architects & Planners, LLC on this project.

We’re excited to share a sneak peek of our latest project for Chicago’s newest retail souvenir destination, Bye Bye Brands. Inspired by the L train lines that connect Chicago’s neighborhoods, the design reflects how the city moves, carrying people from every corner into the center where tourism, culture, and city life converge. Grounded in Chicago’s industrial roots, the space layers brick, bold graphics, and iconic Chicago language into a vibrant tribute to the city. Opening soon at 145 N. Michigan Ave, at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Randolph Street. #ChipmanDesignArchitecture #Architecture #InteriorDesign #RetailDesign #ChicagoRetail Helios Construction Services, OPTO International, Inc., Moss, KSA Lighting & Controls

  • The most expensive problems in construction are the ones caught too late. Helios teams are using AR/VR on active projects to change when those issues get identified. Recently, the team walked through equipment layouts virtually in field before installation. Validating clearances, access, and coordination with surrounding systems.   During that review, we caught a layout conflict that would have impacted access and downstream trades. In a traditional process, that likely turns into a change order, schedule disruption, and field rework. Instead, the team adjusted the layout in real time and aligned on a solution in about 30 minutes.   By utilizing tools like this into our workflow, we’re catching issues in hours that used to surface in weeks. The result is fewer surprises in the field, better quality control, and a massive reduction in risk for our clients.

  • Banking is a proximity game right now. As competition for deposits intensifies, banks are doubling down on physical presence, with more branches in higher-value neighborhoods and smaller, more efficient footprints. This is leading to fewer big-box locations and more targeted spaces built to serve specific communities. We’ve seen that shift firsthand with a few longstanding clients. Across multiple institutions throughout Chicagoland, each project has been an opportunity to refine how we execute, with tighter coordination, clearer communication, and fewer surprises from start to finish. That’s what long-term partnerships actually produce. Not just repeat work, but a shared understanding of how to get projects delivered efficiently and predictably. We recently began work on our latest branch in Evanston, and look forward to delivering another one the right way.

  • Last week, our team spent an afternoon at Firebird Community Arts in East Garfield Park. Firebird is an organization that uses the art of glassblowing and ceramics to empower by people in the Chicago community. The work they do is real, and impacts so many. We are proud to be their construction partner. Projects like this are a good reminder that the spaces we build ultimately belong to the people who bring them to life. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support the next chapter of their home, and make a long lasting impact to the Chicago community!

  • Delivering a flagship store on one of Chicago’s busiest corners requires more than speed.   Projects like this require alignment between tenant vision, building ownership priorities, city logistics, and the realities of operating in a dense urban environment. Every decision has downstream impact on neighboring tenants, on launch timing, and on how the asset is perceived long after the doors open.   In high-visibility retail, construction is not only about reaching completion quickly. It is about protecting the brand and the long-term value of the real estate while the work is happening. We are working alongside Chipman Design Architecture to support Bye Bye Brand’s expansion with a focus on coordination, sequencing, and reducing friction for everyone involved.   When you are activating prime real estate, execution carries weight.

  • Giving back to our communities is an important part of who we are at Helios. As we settle into the new year, we’ve been reflecting on how we closed out the last one. At the end of 2025, our team supported several charitable organizations, all of which were selected directly by our employees. It was important to us that giving back was not just a corporate decision, but a reflection of the causes that our people genuinely care about. We are proud to be a company that empowers its employees to make an impact beyond the workplace. We thank our employees for supporting the below organizations: All Our Children’s Advocacy Center Alzheimer’s Association Common Pantry Firebird Community Arts Hope for Healing The Med13L Foundation Nourishing Hope Stephen Silller Tunnel to Towers Foundation WaterAid Young Men’s Educational Network (YMEN)
