📦 HPDG-30 SN2 is crated up and ready to ship to its first customer! We’ve accumulated ~60 hours of runtime at max continuous power on our hybrid genset and are increasing endurance daily as part of our reliability buildup. Measured Performance: - Electrical Power Out: 25kW electrical out at 5900ft (29.7kW equivalent at sea level) - Specific Fuel Consumption at max power: 624 g/kWhr - SFC at 10kW (optimal): 485 g/kWhr - Fuel Burn at max power: 5.95 gal/hr This aligns closely with our design model, and measured SFC is actually better than predicted 🤘 Next phase: Transitioning to the flightworthy config. The two external cabinets were intentionally oversized for R&D flexibility - our production-intent electronics architecture consolidates that functionality into a single 7" × 7" integrated PCBA.

Over the past few months, we have seen demand skyrocket for compact megawatt-class diesel gensets across marine and industrial markets - driven by US shipbuilding initiatives, mobile AI datacenters, and oil & gas. In response, H3X is developing a modular 2MW genset system built around our HPDM-500 generators and a custom developed gearbox. Our first implementation is with a CAT C32B engine, but the system can bolt up to any engine from 500kW to 2MW with an SAE 0 interface. Key value adds: ✅ Compact footprint: C32B system is ~9 ft shorter than conventional gensets at this power level - critical for hybridized ships where weight and space matter ✅ Native high-voltage HVDC output (600–800 VDC): Integrated power electronics provide direct DC output, eliminating standalone rectifier cabinets and reducing conversion losses (~99% efficient). This architecture is well-suited for modern DC-distribution systems, including emerging 800 V-class data center platforms. ✅ Fault-tolerant architecture: The multisector design of the HPDM-500 enables graceful degradation and continued operation in the event of component-level faults—critical for mission-critical marine and industrial applications. Was digging through the archives and came across one of our earliest integrated inverter designs (circa 2021) (motor core not shown) This was a radially mounted ~250 kW 3ph inverter that used SiC power modules, a low-inductance DC link with custom film capacitors, and a distributed three-board architecture. It was a solid design that worked well for our needs at the time, but we ultimately ended up shifting to an axially-mounted inverter architecture for several reasons - most notably a significant reduction in size (see last image for reference). If you're a power electronics engineer and want to work on advanced inverter technology like this, shoot me a DM. We're hiring🤘 For context: we’re now 10+ generations ahead of this design, and our current inverters look nothing like this. No longer considered core IP.
