  • Some small businesses and community spaces are more than places to shop or visit. They're where people gather, connect, and create lasting memories. This week, we're highlighting five fundraisers helping beloved local businesses and community spaces keep going: 💚 Adanne Bookshop: https://gfme.co/4bJ5UA7 An independent bookstore is seeking support to hire staff, strengthen operations, and preserve the community space it has built over the past five years. 💚 Chambers of Terror: https://gfme.co/4bxI3mZ A haunted attraction that's been part of Salem for decades is seeking support to stay open for one final Halloween season after facing rising rent and unexpected medical expenses. 💚 Kingdom KPop: https://gfme.co/4f8Yvwh After a shipping dispute left its shelves nearly empty, this independent record store is asking its community for help keeping its doors open. 💚 TheFood Doctor: https://gfme.co/4pBSprR A Jacksonville food truck providing free summer lunches to local children is raising funds to serve even more families while school is out. 💚 Camp Taum Sauk: https://gfme.co/4ytTS7s After devastating flooding damaged an 80-year-old summer camp, its community is coming together to help rebuild for future generations of campers. Whether they're feeding kids, creating community, preserving local traditions, or helping people feel at home, these places continue to make a difference every day. Now, they're turning to their communities for support.

Watching the World Cup is a privilege – and it has made me think about how many young people still lack the opportunity to play the game themselves. U.S. families now spend an average of $1,016 each year on a child’s primary sport, up 46% since 2019. Collectively, parents spend more than $40 billion annually helping their kids play. For many families, the cost of travel, equipment, and tournament fees puts participation out of reach. At GoFundMe, we see an extraordinary outpouring of support from communities coming together to help young people overcome those barriers and stay in the game. Several organizations are also harnessing the momentum of this World Cup to create lasting opportunities for young people: The U.S. Soccer Foundation, founded as a legacy of the 1994 FIFA World Cup, is expanding access to soccer in underserved communities. Together with Philadelphia Soccer 2026, they're investing $2 million in youth initiatives that will create 26 projects across Pennsylvania. Street Soccer USA is using the momentum of the World Cup to build 26 street soccer parks and learning centers across all 11 U.S. host cities, creating more opportunities for young people to play and thrive. Soccer in the Streets continues to expand its innovative StationSoccer program in Atlanta, building free soccer fields at MARTA transit stations so more young people can access the game in their own communities. Huge thanks to everyone working so hard to enable kids from every walk of life to play the game. #BiggestGameOnEarth

Multiple major wildfires are burning across Colorado, including the Aspen Acres, Ferris, and Gold Mountain fires. Together, they have scorched more than 187,000 acres, making this one of the state's most devastating wildfire seasons in recent history. Since igniting on June 29, the Aspen Acres Fire has become the seventh-largest wildfire in Colorado history. More than 12,000 people have been forced to evacuate, over 260 homes have been destroyed, and firefighters continue working around the clock to contain it. We're mobilizing donations through our Wildfire Relief Fund to provide emergency cash grants to people in Colorado who have lost their homes or property or have been displaced by these fires. Tax-deductible donations will help families receive emergency financial support quickly, with no restrictions on how the funds are used, so they can address their most immediate needs. In the first days after a wildfire, flexible financial support can make a tremendous difference. Emergency cash helps people secure temporary housing, purchase food and water, replace essential items, cover transportation, and meet other urgent needs. We're grateful to GoFundMe, Inc. for contributing $50,000 to ensure we can begin granting as soon as impacted households are verified, allowing us to begin delivering assistance as quickly as possible. Our first round of grants will go out today. If you're able, please consider making a tax-deductible gift to help more Colorado families receive emergency support in the days ahead. https://lnkd.in/eBapedYA

  • This is what happened when a community came together for someone they had never met. After a tornado tore through Effingham, Illinois, Trevor lost the rental home he was living in and his car while filming the storm that ultimately went viral online. Moved by his story, a stranger named Stephanie started a GoFundMe with one simple goal: to help him begin again. The response was extraordinary. Over a thousand people came together to help Trevor rebuild and remind him that he wasn't facing this journey alone. Now, at Trevor's request, the fundraiser has closed. He plans to use only the funds he needs to recover, with any remaining support going toward helping others in his community who were also affected by the tornado. It's a powerful reminder that one act of compassion can inspire an entire community to show up: https://gfme.co/4vR3ojx

A couple of weeks ago, GoFundMe hosted a creator dinner at VidCon, and it reminded me why this community matters so much. We brought together creators across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Twitch for a night of conversation about using their platforms for good. A few moments that stuck with me: - Streamers are exploring how to weave live fundraising into their content and streams. - Food creators, like My Nguyen (MyHealthyDish, Forbes Top 50 Creator), are excited to support campaigns that eliminate food insecurity. - Talent agencies like REACH and Odd Projects see GoFundMe as a meaningful way for their clients to build a giving footprint beyond brand deals. And one story said it all: Adam (SomethingElse YT) shared how, after his dad's devastating bicycle accident left him with quadriplegia, he turned to GoFundMe and raised over $56K from 2,200+ donors, hitting his goal in under 2 hours. He told us GoFundMe helped save his dad's life, and he came to dinner ready to learn how he can help to pay it forward. That's the kind of creator relationships we're building, ones rooted in real impact, not just partnership. Thank you to everyone who made the night possible, and to the creators who trusted us with their stories! #VidCon #Creators #GoFundMe
