Global Glimpse

Last week, we welcomed 18 cross-sector leaders to the Dominican Republic for one of the most meaningful experiences in Global Glimpse history! As we celebrate our 10,000th student milestone this summer, this Leadership Trip brought together executives, board members, champions, and partners for a fully immersive experience alongside Global Glimpse students from New York and Chicago. For most participants, this meant stepping far outside their everyday routines. No executive assistants, no calendar to manage, no hotel upgrades, and no cell service most of the time. Our leaders joined students for packed days in communities where we have deep relationships. They engaged in our curriculum, shared meals with students and community members, supported a student-led Community Action Project, and experienced what happens when people from different backgrounds come together with curiosity, openness, and a willingness to learn from one another. One of the biggest reminders from this week was that some things can only be understood through firsthand experience. Our team works hard all year long to describe the impact of Global Glimpse, to share the outcomes, and to tell the stories. But there is something so powerful about witnessing a group of young people fully present with one another, watching them form friendships across differences, discover new perspectives, and find the confidence to be themselves. This experience reinforced our belief that leadership begins with perspective, and that when we create spaces for people to connect across backgrounds, cultures, and experiences, we build the foundation for a more sustainable future. During Immigration Day in Puerto Plata, our Massachusetts Glimpsers visited the Kerolle Initiative for Community Health (KICH) to learn about the experiences, challenges, and resilience of the Haitian community in the Dominican Republic. Through conversation, time spent with local children, and meaningful interactions with community members, students gained a deeper understanding of the complex realities of migration, identity, and belonging, while building the empathy and global perspective that are at the heart of the Global Glimpse experience. #globalglimpse #culturalexchange #leadershipdevelopment #humanconnection

Our Panama Program Manager, Leydianis Gonzalez, is coming at you live from one of the world's greatest engineering marvels: the Panama Canal! After a successful 15-year career in financial services with J.P. Morgan and American Express, she followed her passion and founded Travel By Barone in 2022. Since then, Rachel has become a rising leader in the travel industry, earning recognition from Travel + Leisure Co. as the recipient of the prestigious Rising Star Award in 2025. She is also consistently ranked as a top performer amongst her agency and many leading hotel brands, including Four Seasons. Rachel understands firsthand how travel can expand a young person's sense of possibility, build confidence, and create lasting impact.
