  • Attention in risk often goes to the extremes. The dramatic, low-probability catastrophe gets the tabletop exercise. The slow, obvious trend gets its line on the agenda. Both ends are well covered, because both are easy to see. The middle is where things get missed. A signal gathering force that isn't frightening enough to fear yet, or established enough to plan around. It sits between the wild card and the sure thing, and by the time it's obvious enough to make the register, the advantage of seeing it early is gone. That middle is what our new Future of Corporate Risk Radar watches. It tracks 50+ phenomena across five domains and sorts each by where it sits in its life cycle: the distant wild card, the trend already reshaping the ground, the weak signal worth watching now. • Even the most experienced futurist has to actively resist the pull of extrapolation, to keep questioning and keep holding open future possibilities that feel uncomfortable or unlikely. Generic AI tools are built to do the opposite. They're, by design, pattern-matching engines optimised for plausibility. Ask one which assumptions in your strategy are most fragile, and it will reach for the most conventional answer. Then there’s also the content problem: Open-web training data is vast. It's also inconsistent, frequently outdated, and impossible to audit. When your strategic analysis is grounded in the same publicly available, often contested information that everyone else has access to, the tool becomes a leveller rather than an edge. In future-focused work, source quality isn't secondary. It is the work. This is the problem Synapse was designed to solve. Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/ei2ea6HV

  • As the speed and volatility of change accelerated over the past decade, organisations became much better at anticipating it. The difficulty shows up later, when a real decision is on the table and all that insight still won't resolve into a clear direction. Valuable perspectives tend to sit in separate teams, framed in different ways, and the work of pulling them into one coherent view rarely gets designed on purpose. We think that work deserves to be treated as a capability rather than left to informal coordination. We call it Futures Intelligence. In practice, Futures Intelligence means bringing the insight you already have into the same room at the moment a decision is formed, so that next quarter, the three-year plan and the decade-long direction can be weighed together instead of competing. Download the whitepaper on Futures Intelligence for practical guidance on how to get started, with no new department or transformation programme required: https://lnkd.in/ewz-vrDx

  • Risk doesn't hold still, and the picture you build of it starts ageing the moment it's finished.  That's the nature of the subject. Consider how much has shifted in a single reporting cycle. Some risks kept moving, others changed shape, and a few surfaced that no one had mapped at all. This is why we’ve extended our Future of Corporate Risk report into an interactive radar: a living view of 50+ phenomena mapped across five key risk domains, and continuously assessed and updated as the landscape shifts. • For much of the past decades, the risks organisations faced were mostly legible: market cycles, competitive disruption, regulatory shifts, the occasional geopolitical shock. What's happening now doesn't follow that pattern. The geopolitical order that made global trade predictable is fracturing. The climate crisis is producing physical and legal exposures that were never priced into the systems built over the last century. And the social trust that institutions depend on is thinning across many major economies. Our latest report examines corporate risk from five different angles: geopolitical, digital, climate, organisational, and financial. • How do you design a workspace that helps organisations make future-fit decisions under uncertainty, without adding to the noise they are already buried in? We sat down with Mika Ilari Koskinen, the lead designer behind Synapse, to find out. Synapse is our new agentic AI workspace for Futures Intelligence, built to close the gap between insight and decision. In this first behind-the-scenes piece, Mika talks through the design philosophy that shaped it: why the product is named after a nerve junction, why the team built it from scratch instead of adding AI to what already existed, and the one principle that guided almost every decision. "There are too many signals in the world already. If it adds noise, take it out.” Read the full conversation on our blog: https://lnkd.in/epEAWjqv

  • “Without Futures Platform, we can’t start our workshops in a convenient way.” For Akiko Fujii and her foresight team at Mitsui & Co., Ltd., staying in tune with societal change is central to their work. And anticipating the needs of future societies requires looking at change from multiple angles and a wide perspective. Futures Platform supports this process by giving them a head start with a rich library of market insights and foresight analyses, so they can focus on sense-making rather than starting from scratch. Hear more about Akiko’s perspective on how her team keeps a multinational company future-ready. 🌍 #foresight #futurereadiness #strategy #change

  • Today we're introducing Futurist Partner Insights — an expansion of Futures Platform's core collection of more than 1,500 future phenomena analyses, written and curated by our in-house team. The first three partners — one from each of our principal markets beyond Europe — are futurist Sohail Inayatullah (Australia), corporate foresight and innovation expert Deborah Hayek, MBA (North America), and FutureTales LAB (Southeast Asia). "Our mission at Futures Platform has always been to expand the views on possible futures. Bringing in outside experts is a deliberate next step. Futures intelligence gets richer when more than one informed view is in the room, and sharper still when those views are grounded in a specific region or industry. We're excited to bring these three partners on board, and they are only the first of many to come," says Dr. Tuomo Kuosa, Futures Research Director at Futures Platform. Had a great time last week attending Future Days in Copenhagen, which of course deserves an obligatory LinkedIn post ;) Really enjoyed all the talks, workshops, and the new connections. Special shout-out to the global team from PwC ‘s Future Design Lab (Charlotte Lin and Ming Unn Andersen) for their engaging sessions on how to better embrace imagination within a corporate setting, and for the deepdive on the role of human networks in innovation in a post-agentic world. Very interesting! Excited to use all these fresh perspectives to continue shaping better futures with Futures Platform’s clients! #FutureDays #futures #foresight

  • 🚨 Last chance to register: Join us tomorrow for a conversation on how futures intelligence is evolving in 2026 AI is changing how organisations scan for weak signals, analyse emerging trends, and plan for different future scenarios. But in a world flooded with generated content, the question of what to trust matters just as much as what to analyse. Tomorrow, Ira Stening from Futures Platform sits down with Soile Ollila, Head of Foresight at Business Finland to explore what has genuinely shifted in foresight practice, and what the core principles of good futures work still demand.
