  • Love seeing posts like this that recognize the strength and leadership of young people at Frontline Catalysts, the power of real community partnerships, and what becomes possible when people come together with intention and care. So proud that spaces we help hold can uplift youth voices, participatory design, and community-rooted solutions in action. Thank you Sara Landsberg for sharing your work and for bringing thoughtful energy into the space. And thank you to everyone involved with CanalAlliance and UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design Berkeley who continues to show up for young people, community collaboration, and collective impact. #frontlinecatalysts #YouthPower

This weekend I presented my final project for ENVDES 198: Civic Imagination Studio. Together with UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design and Canal Alliance, my partner and I came up with a potential design scenario for a community garden. During my time working on this project I got to learn about participatory design principles as well as the wonderful Canal community in San Rafael. I’m so grateful for this experience and I can’t wait to implement the ideas I learned in my future career. A huge thanks to Frontline Catalysts for inviting us to present at your event, and to Ava Bush and Julianne Chu for coming out to support me!

  • Our Saturday School Volunteer Day was a huge success! We had around 35 volunteers over the course of a 4 hour day completely transform the Life Academy garden, just in time for spring time planting! Our student volunteers built two new garden beds, painted 24 feet of wooden fence posts, picked up trash, weeded, and spread 5 cubic yards of mulch all around the garden! We are so grateful for all the hard work our Saturday school students and volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering at our school site gardens, fill out the volunteer interest form in our bio, or reach our via DM! Happy spring! 🌷🌱🐝🌸 #youthleadership #lifeacademy #unitedforsuccessacademy #foodsovereignty #ecohealing #urbangreening #climatejustice

  • CALI Recap time! This session, students in the CALI program played a board game crafted to push them to advocate for their communities to have access to more resources. With this, they were able to get a peak into what civic engagement looks like at different levels! Students created their communities with the funds alloted to them, and had to speak to city council members to advocate for more. They were able to build up their advocacy skills and continue to think about their dream communities. Stay tuned to see more updates!

  • As we approach Earth Day, our eco-justice warriors in the Life Academy Eco-Healing Garden Club are thinking deeply about the life cycles of their trash! We held a riveting discussion about where waste ends up and our students were shocked to realize that their favorite chip brands are making them pay for trash! We brainstormed how we can educate our community about proper waste management and the importance of compost. A question our students are posing to the community— When you throw your trash away, where is “away”? Join our Life Academy and USFA school community in taking proper care of our earth at our Reclaim Earth Day event, coming up April 17th 2025 from 10-3pm at Peralta Hacienda Historical Park! 👀🌱🤲🏾 #youthleadership #lifeacademy #unitedforsuccessacademy #foodsovereignty #ecohealing #urbangreening #climatejustice

  • Our youth stepped back in time! 🕰️ On March 14th, CALI students spent the day at the Oakland Museum, engaging with exhibits focusing on California's art, history, and natural environment to build connection and understanding. Through displays depicting Indigenous land-tending knowledge, SFSU students on strike, California Natural Sciences, and many many more, CALI youth walked away equipped with a new historical perspective of the communities they are a part of~ Stay tuned to hear more about our youth's other sessions in this program

  • This Saturday at Life Academy, students took up their paintbrushes and creativity and beautified our fence panels! We are hoping to get this fence installed with the Life Academy interns soon to not only beautify the space, but also to keep out trash and flying soccer balls ⚽😅 If you have building skills and are looking to help out with this build, please send us a DM, we need your help! #LifeAcademy #EcoHealing #YouthEngagement
