Last week, members of our team headed around the country to attend two key industry gatherings: the OutdoorArtsUK National Conference and the Association of Independent Festivals Congress. Across both events, our colleagues engage with inspiring communities of creatives, producers and sector leaders who all play vital roles in shaping the UK's cultural landscape. These conversations offered valuable insights into the current challenges facing the festival and outdoor arts sectors, as well as innovative ideas emerging to address them. We're grateful for the chance to once again connect, collaborate and contribute to discussions that will help strengthen and sustain the UK's vibrant cultural ecosystem.

We are still riding the high from delivering four spectacular light trails across the UK this winter ✨ Across our sites in Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle and Cardiff we had a total of 6.5km of trail and 59 installations lighting up the darkest night of the year. In total, customers spent approximately 20 million minutes exploring the trails, fuelled by 11,688 litres of mulled wine and cider, and toasted 116,208 marshmallows over our warming fire pits. With over 500 members of staff working across all sites it truly was a team effort all around. To everyone who played a part in bringing these glittering events to life - thank you! 🌟

This Christmas, we are taking a moment to pause and to say thank you. 2025 has been a year filled with big moments, shared experiences and countless memories made outdoors. From summer fields to winter parks, everything we create is powered by people. The teams, collaborators, artists and communities who bring these events to life. This year we celebrated a landmark moment with the 20th edition of Kendal Calling. It was a weekend defined not only by incredible performances, but by the atmosphere, warmth and togetherness that makes the festival what it is. That feeling did not end when the gates closed. It carried forward and continues to shape what comes next. In September, Arts by the Sea in Bournemouth once again brought people together in public spaces across the town. Streets, seafronts and shared places were filled with creativity, curiosity and joy, welcoming communities of all ages to experience art in the open air and reminding us of the power of culture to connect people. As the nights draw in, our light trails have once again opened up green spaces across the UK. Hundreds of thousands of families have been welcomed into parks transformed by art, light and imagination. At a time of year when it is easy to stay indoors, these moments of shared wonder feel more important than ever. At our heart, From the Fields is about creating spaces where people can come together. Spaces to look up, to feel something, and to remember what it means to experience joy collectively. This Christmas, we are proud of what has been created and deeply grateful to everyone who made it possible. From all of us at From the Fields, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ✨ With love, Ben, Andy and the team

This week we have hit a milestone we're incredibly proud of - we have now sold over 1,000,000 tickets to our light trails over the past 4 years 🥳🙌 Beginning during the pandemic (when we were unable to do what we do best -making festivals) we decided to try something new. We began this new journey in 2021 with Christmas at Bute Park and haven't looked back. Since then we have launched Northern Lights Newcastle (2023), Northern Lights Leeds (2024) and next week, we will be debuting Northern Lights Manchester. We are truly honoured that over a million people have chosen to experience the magic we create each winter in parks across the country. Bringing together families and friends to make memories, and lighting up the nights in the darkest nights of the year. A huge thank you to everyone who have joined us along the way. Thank you to our incredible teams, partners and visits who have made who have made this incredible milestone happen. Here's to the next million 🌟✨

We are thrilled to announce John Lewis as a headline sponsor at the debut of Northern Lights Manchester - a brand new trail we’ve added to our roster of events. This is a significant partnership that aligns two of the UK’s most recognisable festive brands. John Lewis—a brand synonymous with the unofficial start of the festive season—& Northern Lights; to firmly establish Manchester’s newest seasonal tradition from year one. This partnership underscores the breadth of the John Lewis Christmas experience and, to reinforce the message that members get more, John Lewis is offering myJL members a discount on all tickets to Northern Lights Manchester. Northern Lights Manchester follows in the footsteps of successful light trails in Newcastle and Leeds, as well as Christmas at Bute Park, Cardiff. The Manchester trail promises to be the most ambitious yet, featuring a mile-long journey of light and sound, 16 large-scale illuminations synchronised to bespoke soundtracks and interactive experiences designed to delight visitors of all ages. Roxy Robinson, Creative Director: “John Lewis’ brand ethos and seasonal spirit align perfectly with our philosophy to create unforgettable moments and seasons traditions for many years.” Rosie Hanley, Brand Directed, added: “This spectacular light trail is a brilliant way for us to share the spirit of the season with Manchester and its communities, and we are excited to be a part of it.” 📅 20th November - 31st December 2025 📍 Heaton Park, Manchester, North West England 🔗 - https://lnkd.in/eszEuH9C
