When the #FreshCommunitiesTour came to Chicago, we weren't the only ones who showed up. Fresh Express President & CEO John P. Olivo joined Arne Duncan, former U.S. Secretary of Education and Founder of Chicago CRED, along with Melissa Ackerman, CEO of Planet Harvest, and Peter Stedman, Director of Sustainability at Chiquita, for a meaningful conversation about the role fresh food can play in strengthening communities. One message stood out: access to fresh food is more than a food industry issue - it is a community issue that touches health, opportunity, and quality of life. Fresh Express is proud to bring the #FreshCommunitiesTour to Chicago alongside Planet Harvest and Chiquita - distributing fresh food boxes to families across the city as part of our ongoing commitment to fresh food access in communities that need it most. Together with local organizations, volunteers, and community partners, we packed and handed out boxes filled with fresh produce, Fresh Express salad kits, Chiquita bananas, pantry staples, and recipe inspiration - everything a family needs to put a real meal on the table tonight. Chicago is one of the great American food cities. Every neighborhood here has a deep relationship with food, flavor, and feeding people well. Getting fresh, quality ingredients directly into people's hands - that's exactly where we want to show up. What a great few days at CPMA connecting with partners, customers, and industry peers. From meaningful conversations at the booth to sharing a closer look at our latest chopped salad kits, it was an energizing reminder of how much momentum there is around fresh, convenient, flavor-forward solutions.
