  • Snoots goes live in the US!

OPEN FOR BUSINESS! www.joinsnoots.com (still accepting founding memberships at 25% off) I am so excited to share that Snoots in Clifton, NJ is open for business. The amazing Alexandra Pietrzyk has joined us as our founding veterinarian alongside Dana Fellows and Tracie Requena, and we have started booking in our first patients! What a wild ride it's been in three years. From a 400 sq foot clinic in Islington to a 2,000 sq. foot one in New Jersey - with many stories (and screw ups) along the way. None of this would have been possible without our incredible team or our backers - especially those who've been with us from day one.

  • Read our take on where global AI regulation and policy is headed, now that the frontier lab CEOs have made it clear they want a US-led solution.

As of Tuesday, the Big 3 frontier lab CEOs - Altman, Amodei, Hassabis - have all endorsed a US-led model of global AI regulation. This is despite the US - at least until June's executive order - being sceptical of precisely such a framework. What's going on? This can best be understood in the context of Pax Silica - the US' initiative to sign countries up to an agreement on AI supply chains, export controls and - explicitly - US primacy in AI. Extending Pax Silica into governance and regulation of AI would be a natural step for the US and it looks like the CEOs are getting ahead of this. But while all three propose ideas that look very much like the UK's AI Security Institute, none mention it, or the UK-led efforts to convene global leaders on AI safety, starting in Bletchley in 2023. Explicit snub, or simply reflective of who's at the table and who's not? Read more at The Form Playbook 👇 Patrick Newton Mayowa O.

We've long been sceptical of the idea that AI consciousness or AI welfare would ever become serious policy debates. Now, we've changed our minds - not because we think scientists will soon prove that AI is conscious, but because a growing number of people believe that it might be, and are acting accordingly. In the first of our "Policy 2050" series, we explore the growing evidence that attitudes towards AI consciousness are shifting, and the radical policy questions that might follow.

Form Ventures just published why they invested in Snoots, and I couldn't be prouder of the partnership behind it. Great investors are rare, and Form is the real thing: hands-on, aligned, and backing us at every round. Thank you Form Ventures: Patrick Newton, Leo Ringer, and Mayowa O..

UK spending on vet care rose from £1.1bn in 2005 to £6.7bn in 2023, making it one of the fastest-growing and least transparent consumer services in the country. That's just one of the reasons we've doubled down on Snoots, the first members-only veterinary provider offering unlimited primary care for a flat monthly fee. We believe Snoots are creating a different future for pet healthcare: one built around alignment, transparency and prevention. Read why we invested in the link below.

Last week we announced our pre-seed, led by Episode 1 Ventures Form Ventures Houghton Street Ventures Inovia Capital and with support from many others. So what are we building? On the consumer side: personal tax is complex, archaic, and stressful. I've felt that first-hand. People dread Self Assessment — and they shouldn't have to. We're building something that takes the weight off their shoulders. On the b2b side: building tax technology is a genuinely hard lift, given the breadth and depth of tax rules, calculations, and HMRC APIs that need integrating. Most of what exists in the UK is legacy software. There's little — if any — API-first tax tech, let alone something with the workflows and scaffolding to leverage AI for automation in a way that actually matters for accounting firms. That's the gap we're going after, and we're just getting started. If you're navigating tax, building in this space, or curious about what we're doing, reach out. A big thank you to everyone that's helped us get this far - our customers, our team, and folks that have backed us. Record OS — accountant-prepared, AI-powered tax.

Europe builds brilliant companies. But does it keep them? Too often, Europe's most ambitious scale-ups look west to US capital markets, deeper liquidity pools, and a more familiar path to IPO. That's the challenge we're tackling head-on in our upcoming webinar ‘Sovereign Scaling: Keeping Europe’s Tech Champions in Europe’. From growth capital and pension fund investment to listings reform and public procurement, our speakers will be exploring what it would truly take to make Europe not just a great place to found a company, but a credible place to scale one, list one, and keep one. Join our expert panel Cristina Caffarra, Co-Founder & Chair, EuroStack Initiative Foundation e.V; Neil Shah, Head of Tech, Primary Markets, London Stock Exchange PLC; Leo Ringer, Founding Partner, Form Ventures; and Lucy Frazer KC, Former UK Cabinet Minister, Advisory Board Member, Quantexa, to get their unfiltered views. When: 25 June 2026, 13:30 - 14:30 BST Where: Online, Zoom All European tech and AI leaders are welcome to join the session. To register, click here: https://lnkd.in/eB9eKCK9 #Boardwave #MakingWaves

As my colleagues Mayowa and Patrick head to Berlin for SuperVenture this week, all the chat in the venture market is about where defensibility exists for startups now that someone can vibe-code your product in a weekend. It's not going to astonish our regular readers that we at Form Ventures think regulation is a massively important source of competitive defensibility as the difficulty of software creation plummets. As with hardware-based startups, or those with real-world operations, the "hard things" of startup building are what's left when code is commoditised. We think there are at least four ways in which regulation allows enduring value to be created: Time: regulatory processes slow down fast-followers Market entry: regulation creates cross-border defences Go to market: credibility with buyers goes beyond software Product: regulated products have value beyond the code But above all these, there's only a small supply of founders who combine the capability and ambition to take on complex, regulated markets - we don't think AI is going to change that any time soon.

I found a big mistake on my 23-24 tax return, while paying £400 for someone to do it for me. Today, we're launching Record OS as a B2C tax service to fix this: accountant-prepared, AI-powered tax returns at a fraction of the cost. £125 for simple returns, £250 for complex ones. Prepared by expert accountants with backgrounds at HMRC and BDO, so you don't worry about getting it right. Every allowance proactively claimed, so you pay only what you owe. https://www.record-os.com/ Know someone this would help? Tag them!

📣 Delighted to announce our $12.5m Series A funding round this morning - thank you to Jess Jones and Richard Tyler at The Times for covering the news! ( 🔗 in comments) Ric da Silva and I started Flok Health to solve the biggest problem in healthcare; supply-demand mismatch. Billions of people today suffer unnecessarily from conditions we know how to treat, but where traditional delivery cannot scale to meet demand. Our AI platform is the first and only system in Europe to be approved for fully autonomous end-to-end healthcare delivery direct to patients - which finally allows us to decouple the availability of labour from the volume and quality of care. We're seeing incredible results across the NHS already, and we're just getting started. This funding will allow us to rapidly scale our existing services, while also expanding into new clinical domains and markets - watch this space! Very proud to welcome AlbionVC who led this round, as well as participation from Mercia Ventures and our existing backers Eka Ventures and Form Ventures. Thank you to Camilla Dolan, Leigh Brody, Ruth Coleman, Andrew Elder, and Patrick Newton for your support and backing - we're incredibly excited to be working with you on this ambitious and important mission, and to have found true believers in our vision. Enormous thanks also to the whole team at Flok Health - you work incredibly hard to make exceptional care available to everyone who needs it. If you're reading this and want to be part of that mission - check out our careers page, and join us. Finally - thank you to our NHS partners who took a leap with us to build and deliver an entirely new model of healthcare. This level of care transformation cannot be achieved without true partnership working, and we deeply appreciate your faith in us. There's never been a better time to build. Let's go! 🚀 #startup #AI #healthcare #SeriesA #MSK #physiotherapy #funding
