Matariki celebrated through Hautapu ki Hautapu, a sacred ceremony to honour the stars. Whānau from across the Co-op gathered at our Hautapu site in Waikato for a special Hautapu ki Hautapu ceremony that brought together culture, community and connection to the environment as part of this year’s Matariki celebrations. The Hautapu ki Hautapu ceremony event began with a Matariki wānanga (education session) and included the unveiling of a new pouwhenua (pou), Wai Mate, Wai Ora. The pou symbolises the journey of water through the site’s manufacturing processes and into the new wastewater treatment plant, Wai Mahea, before treated water is respectfully returned to the whenua and the Waikato Awa. The ceremony provided an opportunity to reflect on the connections between people, water and place, while acknowledging the partnership between Fonterra and mana whenua groups Ngāti Korokī Kahukura and Ngāti Hauā. The occasion also highlighted the importance of kaitiakitanga and our collective responsibility to care for resources for future generations. “This pou tells a story of transformation and renewal. Wai Mate, Wai Ora reflects the journey of water, but it also reflects the journey of people coming together with a shared purpose and respect for the whenua.” - Pouwhenua artist Brodie Taylor. The unveiling and ceremony created a meaningful moment for everyone involved, bringing the spirit of Matariki to life through reflection, learning and connection. #Fonterra #Matariki

Proud to see Fonterra represented on the global stage at the Global Dairy Congress in Barcelona. Jeremy Hill, Fonterra’s Chief Science and Technology Officer, contributed to a number of key sessions across the event — including the opening panel, the Yili roundtable on innovation's influence on powering high value nutrition and health solutions, and a session on precision fermentation — while also supporting the judging of the World Dairy Innovation Awards. Great to see Fonterra contributing to these important conversations and helping lead the global dialogue on the future of dairy. Jeremy Hill #GlobalDairyCongress #DairyInnovation #Fonterra

The Growing Future Farmers Fonterra dairy programme is expanding. Following positive feedback and interest from farmers and students, expressions of interest are now open for a second intake in 2027. The programme kicked off earlier this year with seven farmers and seven students across Waikato and Bay of Plenty, combining on-farm training with formal NZQA learning to give young people a supported pathway into dairy. For Fonterra farmer Annalyse Huxford, the impact is already clear. "It's been incredibly rewarding to see students develop new skills and grow in confidence on farm. This programme has given us hope that we can attract more young farmers and keep them engaged in the industry." Fonterra farmers in Waikato and Bay of Plenty can register their interest now, and young people aged 16 to 20 can apply via the Growing Future Farmers website. This week is a great reminder of how powerful partnerships can be in supporting our communities. At Fonterra, we're working together with organisations to provide care and support that keeps our rural communities strong and help put good dairy nutrition in the hands of those who need it most. Through our KickStart Breakfast programme, we help make dairy nutrition accessible. We also support partners like Trees for Survival, to bring students and local communities together, the New Zealand Food Network, to get food to those who need it most, and Surfing for Farmers, to promote wellbeing across rural communities. We’re committed to creating a more sustainable future and have a role to play in supporting new renewable energy supply in New Zealand. This week we signed two separate long term virtual Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Anza Power and NZ Clean Energy to support large scale solar projects in Canterbury. “Solar is a good fit for our operations, with generation aligning well to the peak of the milk season. These agreements help bring new generation to market while at the same time giving us long term price certainty.” Anna Palairet, Chief Operating Officer. Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eN7KXU57

That’s a wrap for Fieldays 2026! And what a Fieldays it was… the sun was out and so were the visitors. We had a record number of farmer shareholders through the tent where we took the opportunity to share how their Co-op creates value by making world class ingredients and foodservice products. Meanwhile, our careers activation, marble run, and tanker were a hit with the public. #Fonterra #Fieldays

Fonterra has today announced permanent changes to its leadership structure, following the interim appointments announced in April 2026. CEO Richard Allen says the Co-op is evolving from a channel-led to a market-led leadership structure to accelerate progress on strategic delivery and value growth. “Our channel-led approach has served us well in establishing momentum in our B2B focussed strategy, and the time is right to now make this market-led shift. “With the divestment of Mainland Group complete, this structure will deliver our next era of customer-led growth and innovation across our global Ingredients and Foodservice channels. What advice would you give your younger self? That’s a question our panellists reflected on while speaking to students from the University of Auckland He Ira Wāhine Women’s Mentoring Programme as part of our ‘Women of Fonterra’ event. More than 40 students studying Science, Business and Law heard from a panel of women working in roles across the Co-op, who shared their career journeys, experiences and perspectives on growth and opportunity. A big thank you to the students for attending and bringing such thoughtful questions, and to our panellists Paige Wilkinson, Nazanin (Naz) Rafati, Sheree Jaggard, Lauren Gent and Ravnit Singh, along with our host University of Auckland’s Kylie C. We’re proud to support programmes that empower women and help create pathways into meaningful careers.
