Foam is at DASH, Datadog' annual conference on June 9-10 Everyone at Foam has been an on-call engineer We’ve had really rough and stressful on-call rotations 🤯😥 That is why better sleep is something we aim to deliver to engineers This time, we’re taking it a bit more literally by giving Foam pillows to those who share their worst on-call story 😴😴😴 Come by Booth #503

    >>> Tech blog drop: https://foam.ai/blog/nth If there's anything I've learned doing research, it's that you first have to know what problem you're solving. So there I was, at about midnight, during my first week at Foam, of my own volition, thumb-typing on my phone's default notes app and arxiv scrolling also on-phone, trying to find the vocabulary to truly understand what exactly is the problem that I as research eng need to solve. (yes my sleep schedule is cooked, no I don't think I'll be changing it anytime soon since neurons run on nightly releases apparently) Anyway, during my interview process at Foam, the problem to be solved was repeatedly framed as **needle-in-a-haystack**. It's somewhat right but it doesn't really hit the mark. Without spoiling too much of the blog, that midnight lit review led to me coining(?) the term **Nth-degree needle-in-a-haystack**, which aligns more with the real problem we're solving at Foam. It also helps that Perla Gámez and Luke Mercado agree with this assessment! And yeah, "Nth-degree needle-in-a-haystack" has been thrown around during conversations at the office too :) You know you've made it when you've contributed to tech jargon. Jk on the making it. Sorry on the contributing to jargon. Plugging the blog again! https://foam.ai/blog/nth

She has NeurIPS & ICML publications as an undergrad But most importantly, Nyx has already proven to be a team player and someone all of us look forward to working with. Welcome to the team, Nyx! We're talking to the best new grads in the world because in AI the returns are to curiosity, grit & intelligence. The foam team just went on a whirlwind tour through Berkeley, Waterloo and CMU's career fairs and we've got ~90 excellent candidates in the funnel. In the next month we'll have hired our full compliment of truly stellar new grads. So it's time to turn our attention to seniors to help us mentor and guide these folks. If you or someone you know is an excellent engineer in SF in search of a new job, I'd love to meet them on the morning of Feb 19th at our Engineered Coffee event. We're partnering with Komakase to serve world class coffee to 13 incredible engineers. No pitches. No selling. Just good coffee, good conversation, and a good time.

Hey EECS & CS seniors at University of California, Berkeley, Brian Sturdivan, foam’s #1 employee, is already working hard to give you a top-notch experience at our booth. We have FREE boba for EECS & CS majors who bring their resume. We’ll be here from 12 PM to 4 PM. Location: Walk into the RSF and continue straight, you’ll see the entrance directly ahead. Then turn left and go to the last row. You’ll see foam at Booth 105. For strong candidates, we will be booking the second-round interview in person (yes, you get to skip our first interview). This is the fastest path to a full time offer at foam. See more details at foam.ai/careers. We are excited to meet you soon.

Last week, foam celebrated Shawn Krisman's 1 year anniversary!! 🎉 Shawn and I met while working at Affirm. Shawn was the God tier tech lead and developer who I deeply admired. So, when I was assembling the founding team, I reached out to them. Not in a MILLION YEARS would I have thought Shawn would reply, let alone want to do this crazy thing with me. You have to understand, Shawn is the real deal. They were among the first 20 employees at companies like Reddit, Yelp, and Everlane, and later an architect at companies like Patreon and Affirm. So why would they want to build foam with me? They could have just gone to OpenAI or something and make $$$. But, my good luck was they had the founder bug :) Shawn joining me on this journey as cofounder has been the most impactful thing that has ever happened to me in my career. Every day, when things get tough, I know I can go to Shawn, brainstorm to solve the problem, get it fixed, all while having a laugh. From me and the foam team, thank you Shawn! We wouldn’t be anywhere near here without you. 💜
