We were thrilled to host our annual sunset boat cruise last week, officially kicking off the New Jersey State Bar Association’s three-day Environmental Law Forum. This year marked a major milestone, the 25th anniversary of First Environment hosting this special three-hour cruise. Attendees enjoyed stunning Cape May views, plenty of dolphin sightings, and quality time with family and colleagues, all while diving into pressing issues impacting New Jersey’s environmental law landscape. The forum also featured valuable insights from our team. First Environment’s Vanessa Huerta, Rich Erickson, and Jon Jacobs, Esq. led an impactful presentation titled, “PFAS Standard of Care,” exploring the evolving legal and technical responsibilities surrounding these persistent contaminants. Just got back from International Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Expo in STL and boy are my arms tired... from carrying around a bunch of great swag. That and from meeting a TON of awesome new people. I'm still getting my feet wet and processing all the incredible convos, but in the meantime I've been thinking a lot about the highlights from the show. So I decided to make a little list of superlatives to share. If you were there, let me know if you agree or add your own. BEST SWAG: First Environment had THE best swag between their highland cow plushies and Labubu's, they were the talk of the show. HONORABLE MENTION: SCS Engineers wild seed packets makes guerilla gardening even more fun than it already was. BEST PEN: As a bit of a stylophile, there's good tradeshow pens and then there's GREAT ones... Simoneau & Sterling's pen gave me life. Added bonus, Jeremy Snell is a wonderful human to have a chat with. BEST PLACE FOR LAUGHS: Noah Cartwright and Darren Mason at PEBCO, Inc. taught me a ton about liquidizing with air while keeping my giggle box perpetually turned. SMALLEST WORLD: TIE: Rick Mobley at EvapTech, Inc. & Jeremy Trepagnier at MBA Energy & Industrial for practically being neighbors in high school and not knowing it. BEST CONVO: Literally everyone one I talked to at FEW was incredibly kind, helpful and taught me a lot about an industry where every corner has a fascinating new tidbit of info to consider. It's a lot to take in, but it's starting to take root. LinkedIn won't let tag everyone I chatted with, but if you're reading this, thanks for the time. I hope we have a chance to speak again at next year's event (if not sooner)!
