As US Forces Command's designated coordinating authority for the implementation of Army Total Force Policy (ATFP), First Army partners with the Army National Guard and US Army Reserve, to enable Reserve Component (RC) formations to achieve Headquarters Department of the Army directed readiness goals and deliver trained and ready RC units to support Combatant Commanders (CCDR) requirements. On order, First Army expands to nine Mobilization Force Generation Installations (MFGI) to mobilize RC Focused Readiness Units (FRU) to meet CCDR OPLAN requirements.

The Pershing Cup: Best OC/T teams are going strong. This morning began with a written test to challenge the competitors mentally and physically with a written test and an obstacle course. Soldiers become Observer Controller / Trainers after gaining years of real-world experience in their combat specialty. They leverage their well-earned knowledge and leadership skills to train and evaluate U.S. Army units, making them ready to accomplish missions for combatant commanders worldwide. This competition puts their experience, strength, and character to the test.

Observer Controller / Trainers from 84th Training Command, Joint Readiness Training Command, Joint Multinational Pacific Training Command, Joint Multinational Training Command, the National Training Center, and First Army have arrived at Fort Stewart, Georgia.
