Legal teams are often seen as the “department of no.” But the real issue is usually not legal’s value — it’s visibility, communication, and alignment. A recent ACC Corporate Counsel Now article highlights the value of “legal roadshows” as a way for in-house legal teams to build stronger bridges with the business. The idea is simple: create recurring opportunities for Legal to explain processes, timelines, compliance requirements, and the “why” behind key decisions. When done well, legal roadshows can help teams: • Improve transparency • Build trust with business stakeholders • Reduce friction in contracting and deal cycles • Create feedback loops across departments • Reposition Legal as a strategic business partner The biggest takeaway: Legal does not need to say “yes” to everything to be business-friendly. Instead, Legal can become the “department of know” — providing clarity, confidence, and compliance so the business can move forward with less friction.
