11 years ago today, I hit “publish” on the very first episode of Feisworld Podcast. I didn’t have a studio, a network, or a “plan.” What I did have was a desire (perhaps an obsession) with honest conversations and a belief that ordinary people are extraordinary when you ask better questions.
Since then Feisworld has become more than a podcast. It grew into a YouTube channel, a documentary, and a home for creators who want to build with heart.
But the real story lives behind the scenes.
Here’s what a decade taught me:
1. Consistency beats confidence. Confidence showed up after 10, 50, 100 episodes—not before. (I sounded like a scared chipmunk in episode 1. I'll never take down that episode to remind me of how far I've come. And you will too.)
2. Curiosity scales. The most useful “format” is simply wanting to understand another human being.
3. Small rooms change lives. “Big” guests are great; the quiet conversations are often the ones people remember.
4. Ship, then shape. Publish the messy version. Iterate in public. Your audience will help you make it better.
5. Audio is intimacy. Voice carries nuance you can’t fake. (It also teaches you to be present.)
6. Community is a verb. Reply to DMs. Send thank-you notes. Host small meetups. Show up before you’re “needed.”
7. Constraints are creative fuel. Time limits, tiny teams, tight budgets—use them as design choices.
8. Seasons of work, seasons of rest. Create sprints, then recover. Your best ideas arrive when you step away.
9. Repurpose with purpose. A single conversation can become articles, clips, talks, and… even a documentary.
10. Don’t chase platforms—build assets. Own your site, your list, your relationships.
11. Make it personal. The most resonant episodes came when I let you into my life—wins, doubts, family, culture.
If you’ve listened, watched, sent a note, or shared an episode—thank you. You helped me turn curiosity into a body of work I’m proud of, and enabled me alongside the people I love (Germán Ceballos, Tripti Gore Chandorkar, Adam Leffert and others) to keep moving forward.
What’s next? More experiments. More service to creators and small businesses. More conversations that feel like sitting at a kitchen table.
If one episode (or moment) ever helped you, I’d love to hear which one and why. I’m collecting favorites today. ❤️
