"Today is an opportunity for reflection. An acknowledgement of how far we’ve come and how far we have to go. It’s up to us to carry the torch forward for the next generation." — Darra Gordon- CEO of Family Equality

We the People. For 250 years, that promise has been uneven, contested, and too often denied. But again and again, ordinary people have stepped up to make it more real — in our communities, in our workplaces, at the ballot box, and in the movements that have pushed this country forward. As we reflect on America’s first 250 years, these three words still ask something of us: What would it take to make sure the people are truly in charge — of our future, our communities, our economy, and our lives?

"LGBTQ+ adults are seven times more likely than others to adopt and 10 times more likely to foster a child, so further limiting the pool of applicants strikes critics as irresponsible." Indeed. Thank you for telling this important story and for featuring one of our Family Equality families. We'll keep fighting to ensure LGBTQ+ parents who are qualified and ready to foster or adopt can do just that.
Reversing its prior position of broad inclusion, Bethany Christian Services will require staff and prospective caregivers to disavow gay marriage and the right of transgender people to live openly.

"No family should have to earn the right to raise their children in peace. We send our love to the Buttigieg family — and we here at Family Equality are going to keep fighting until every LGBTQ+ family, in every state, has that safety." — Darra Gordon, CEO

From Darra Gordon, our CEO, regarding today's SCOTUS decision to allow states to discriminate against trans youth who want to play sports: “To deny a child community and belonging because of who they are is cruel. As a nation, we should be removing barriers to a child's right to play, not creating new ones." 🏳️⚧️ Read more about today's decision and what's next: https://lnkd.in/e289qs9i
