About us

Fabrique is a strategic design agency, specialized in service design, app development, e-commerce and website design. Together with our clients we create things that we – or the world – didn’t think were possible. For example, curating our own collection in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, or putting city marketing on the map in India. We design change. By asking questions. By not taking anything for granted. By pushing boundaries. Together. That’s Fabrique at it's best. We are part of Eidra, a consultancy collective uniting leading companies in consulting, creativity, and engineering. We help leaders create great change, that is concious, exponential, and lasting.

Two weeks ago I stood in front of 70 designers at Rabobank and asked them a slightly uncomfortable question: in an era shaped by AI, what is the role of a designer? Not rhetorically. AI is quietly absorbing much of what we used to call "the work." The screens, the variants, the production. If your value lives there, that is a problem worth naming out loud. So I made the case for a shift most of us sense is coming but few have made. From execution to influence. From the team that receives the brief to the people who shape it. From delivery support to trusted advisor, sitting next to business, technology and leadership. Design's real leverage was never the artifact. It was the judgement behind it: knowing what is worth building, for whom, and why. AI makes that judgement more valuable. What stayed with me afterwards were the questions and reactions. Sharp, sometimes uneasy, the kind you only get when a subject actually hits a nerve. Thanks to Sterre Hoek and Patrick L. Sanwikarja for the invitation, and for letting me poke at the profession a little. So I will ask you the same thing I asked them: is your design team using AI to make the same things faster, or as a reason to rethink the role within the company?

Strategy, commerce, and creative firepower. Last week, our creative director Chin-Lien C. was live at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK forum in London. She joined an inspiring panel exploring The National Gallery Imaginarium - a groundbreaking project reimagining how a 200-year-old gallery can use new virtual formats to democratise access to art. Chin shared her insights into what it takes to design these spaces, how an unusually open brief became a tangible digital strategy, and what engagement means when audiences meet masterpieces on their own terms.

  • It was great to connect with clients and partners during the official opening of our Eidra hub in Rotterdam last week 🙌 An evening filled with good connections, sharp insights, and inspiring talks. A few of the key takeaways from the presentations: • 𝗜𝗻𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 & 𝗘𝗶𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 challenged the perspective on the future of commerce: “The next point of sale isn't a page. It's a conversation.” A powerful vision on how conversational interfaces are reshaping traditional funnels. • 𝗡𝗦 & 𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 proved that a major tech migration is about much more than just a backend upgrade. By focusing on the customer journey, they turned a technical necessity into a chance to redesign their customer channels. • 𝗧𝗼𝘆𝗼𝘁𝗮 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 & 𝗙𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 shared insights into their growing design system: how to define the key success factors when bridging design and development, and how to smartly apply AI to accelerate this process. • 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗘𝘆𝗲 & 𝗤𝟰𝟮 shared a deeply impactful and urgent story. Every day, 103 people die from cardiovascular disease in the Netherlands. HeartEye's mission to reduce this number through smart innovation shows exactly what tech is capable of: saving lives. Thanks to everyone who joined us ❤️ We look forward to many more co-creations in Rotterdam!

  • What happens if you combine AI and museums? Heleen, our colleague at sister comapny Q42, dived into the intersection of #AI and #heritage. Curious about the future of museums? Read her full story below:

After speaking at "The Museum of the Future" in Brussels (thanks WUK!), I wrote up what I've been learning at the intersection of AI and heritage. From Visual Search at the Rijksmuseum and genre classification with the RKD - Nederlands Instituut voor Kunstgeschiedenis (in my role at Q42), to Handwritten Text Recognition and an archival chatbot at Het Utrechts Archief. https://lnkd.in/eb6QfwUX Next stop: AI presentation and workshop at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina!
