Electric grid analytics for predictive outage prevention and wildfire mitigation.

About us

EXACTER® is a strategic information tool for T&D reliability and asset management. Exacter's unique predictive process provides information that accurately identifies specific points of weakness across a utility's power grid in a matter of just a few weeks. Field data includes GPS coordinates of the pre-fail components, a pole number, and photograph of each identified component.

Updates

  • This year marks Exacter’s 20th anniversary — and we want to begin by simply saying thank you. For two decades, it has been our privilege to work alongside electric utilities across North America to improve reliability, support wildfire mitigation, and enhance worker safety. Together, we’ve focused on one shared goal: identifying equipment risk before it becomes an outage or ignition event, so resources can be directed where they have the greatest impact. As grid demands and regulatory expectations continue to evolve, we remain committed to helping utilities move from reactive maintenance toward targeted, predictive insight — and we’re grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us along the way. To mark this milestone and thank you for being part of our journey, we’re offering customers a complimentary reliability and risk review. Our team can review outage history, selected system areas, or wildfire threat zones and provide updated prioritization insights to support planning, maintenance, and mitigation programs. If you’d like to take advantage of this complimentary review, simply click the Risk Review link to get started. Or message us directly here on LinkedIn. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished together over the past 20 years — and excited about what lies ahead. Thank you again for your partnership.

  • 🔥 Pole Fires and the Hidden Risk of Insulator Leakage Current Electric pole fires are an increasingly discussed issue across the utility industry—but one contributing factor that deserves more attention is insulator leakage current. Connect with me and receive an informative Pole Fire Fact Sheet. When insulators accumulate contaminants like salt, dust, pollution, or moisture, they can begin to conduct small amounts of current along their surface. This phenomenon, known as leakage current, may start subtly but can escalate under the right conditions. As current travels across the contaminated surface, it generates heat and can create dry bands that lead to partial discharges and arcing. Over time, these arcs can ignite surrounding materials—such as wooden poles, crossarms, or nearby vegetation—leading to pole fires that cause outages, infrastructure damage, and potential wildfire risk. What makes leakage current particularly challenging is that it often develops long before visible failure occurs. Without monitoring or early detection, utilities may only discover the issue after a fire or major fault. Advancements in monitoring technologies, predictive analytics, and grid diagnostics are helping utilities identify abnormal leakage current earlier—allowing maintenance teams to clean, replace, or upgrade insulators before conditions escalate. As grid reliability and wildfire mitigation remain top priorities, understanding and monitoring insulator leakage current will continue to play a critical role in preventing pole fires and protecting infrastructure. #GridReliability #UtilityIndustry #PowerDistribution #WildfireMitigation #ElectricUtilities
