Only 19 of these ultra rare liters available before the too-big label is gone forever. Sometimes it’s not pretty. That’s okay. In my space, you can ask the buyers what matters most. Communication. Quality. Delivery on time. Accurate information, and an urgency to obtain it. That’s what Ethos delivers. That’s what customers pay for. Happy to say the first Kava deal has closed, excited for many more to come. So if you get a label that’s too-big for the container, know that you’re one of the early birds.

Come November, whether that customer is saying, “What now?” or, “Yes, and?”, you should have an answer for them. That’s exactly the conversation I want to have in Austin. Here’s the question that everyone that will be at the expo in Austin is asking, whether they say it out loud or not. What do we build that doesn’t depend on how this shakes out? That’s why the kava nanoemulsion is in the bag. It’s not a cannabinoid. It’s water soluble. It’s lab tested and easy to formulate with. Hemp is still my biggest mover. But if you’re a brand, then your name represents more just one ingredient. Your customers are buying YOUR product amongst hundreds of competitors. Let’s keep it that way. Wednesday and Thursday. Message me and I’ll find you. #HempBeverageExpo #Kava #BeverageFormulation #HempIndustry #FunctionalBeverages #HBE26TX

People are starting to put kava in beverages right now, and most of them can’t tell you what it actually is. So I put together the actual basics. Swipe through. A few things worth knowing before you formulate with it. Kava comes from the root of Piper methysticum, a plant native to the South Pacific where it’s been part of tradition for centuries. The compounds people focus on are called kavalactones. Not all kava is the same. There’s a real distinction between noble and non-noble cultivars, and it matters for what ends up in your product. If a supplier can’t tell you which one they’re selling, that’s a problem. Our kava nano emulsion is water soluble at roughly 50mg/mL kavalactones, lab tested by Murray-Brown Laboratories. If you’re heading to Austin next week, we can dig into this in person. #Kava #Kavalactones #BeverageFormulation #FunctionalBeverages #HempIndustry

I'll be in Austin June 17-19, during the Hemp Beverage Expo. If you're a brand formulating with cannabinoids or kava, or a contract manufacturer looking to expand your ingredient sourcing, let's talk. We carry various forms of water soluble hemp extracts, as well as our newest offering of nanoemulsified kava. If you're building something in the functional beverage space we can probably help with the ingredient side of it. Reach out before the event and let's make some time for a conversation. #HempBeverageExpo #Kava #CBD #CBN #FunctionalBeverage

Kava has been consumed ceremonially in the Pacific Islands for thousands of years. It never needed a rebrand. The market found it anyway. The interesting thing isn’t that kava found a new audience. It’s why. The category fills a specific gap that nothing else quite does: a social beverage that produces a real, noticeable effect without alcohol and without a hangover. That combination doesn’t exist anywhere else on the menu. The bars are opening. The RTD products are multiplying. The extracts are getting more sophisticated. CO2 extracted, nanoemulsified, standardized for kavalactone content. The plant didn’t change. The infrastructure around it did. If you’re in the beverage space and you haven’t looked seriously at kava yet, the window where it’s still early is closing faster than most people realize. #Kava #KavaBar #SoberCurious #NABeverages #FunctionalBeverage

Most people know CBD hits CB1 and CB2 receptors. Fewer people know CBC barely touches CB1 at all. A 2024 study published in Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research found that CBC is a selective CB2 receptor agonist, meaning it activates CB2 specifically, with higher efficacy than THC at that receptor. CB1 is the receptor associated with psychoactive effects. CB2 is more closely associated with immune signaling and inflammation. That selectivity matters for formulation. A cannabinoid that doesn't meaningfully activate CB1 is a very different product conversation than one that does. Preclinical studies in mice have also associated CBC with anti-inflammatory effects after intestinal damage and anticonvulsant activity in a Dravet syndrome model. Just some research for your hump day. Educational content only. Source: Udoh et al., Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research, 2024. Oil and water don't mix. Which is a problem when your product is both. Cannabinoids are oil based. Beverages are water based. Bridging that gap is the hardest part of building a drink that actually performs, and it's the part most people never see. Swipe through for a quick breakdown of how nanoemulsion works, why droplet size matters for onset, and how CBD, CBG, and CBN each fit different beverage occasions. If you're formulating in this space, the cannabinoid you pick matters. The format you pick matters just as much. #CBD #CBG #CBN #NanoemulsionTechnology #FunctionalBeverage

Kava has been prepared the same way for 3,000 years. Root ground to powder. Mixed with water. Kneaded and strained by hand. Shared in ceremony. Passed between people as an act of community. That tradition deserves respect. But human beings have never been able to leave well enough alone. That’s not disrespect, it’s just how we’re wired. Kavalactones, the active compounds in kava, are oil-based. Oil and water don’t mix. In a traditional preparation they form an unstable suspension. Absorption is inconsistent, onset is slow, and a chunk of what you consume never actually makes it into your system. Nanoemulsification changes that. The process breaks kavalactones into droplets measured in nanometers. At that scale they distribute evenly in water and absorb faster than a traditional preparation ever could. No gritty texture. Faster onset. Same plant. A kava seltzer isn’t the ceremony. But it is an option for a booze-free evening. Enjoy the weekend. #Kava #NABeverages #FunctionalBeverage

I get asked why Ethos is betting on kava now. It's about a shift in our focus: from the product, to the consumer. What I'm seeing is people who love the ritual of drinking: the social lubricant, the wind-down signal, the something in my hand at the end of the day. They’re actively looking for a way to keep that ritual without the alcohol. Kava fills the gap almost perfectly. Mild relaxation, no hangover, works in a social setting. It's not pretending to be a cocktail. It's its own thing. There are a lot of moments that used to belong to alcohol. But people are looking for a change in ownership. Curious whether other people in this space are seeing the same shift I am, or if this is a Colorado thing. #SoberCurious #Kava #NABeverages
