🌍 𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 A recently published article in Springer Nature highlights the growing value and reach of the European Reference Networks (ERNs), demonstrating how an initiative that began as a European effort has evolved into a model with worldwide relevance 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dvardCp4 ERNs were created to connect expertise across countries and ensure that people living with rare and complex diseases can benefit from specialised knowledge, regardless of where they live. Today, their 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬-𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 in the fields of research, education, digital innovation, patient empowerment, and international collaboration. Across the 24 ERNs, we can observe 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, such as: 🔹 Harmonised standards of care through clinical guidelines 🔹 Large-scale registries enabling research and improving outcomes 🔹 Cross-border expert consultations for complex cases 🔹 Training and education initiatives reaching professionals across Europe and beyond 🔹 Strong patient involvement at every level 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐑𝐊𝐍𝐞𝐭, we contribute to this broader mission through initiatives including: 💙 One of the largest rare kidney disease registries (ERKReg) 💙 Guideline development and digital decision-support tools 💙 European specialist education programmes 💙 Patient-centred resources and digital tools 💙 Virtual expert consultation systems connecting clinicians across borders What began as a European project is increasingly becoming a framework for global knowledge exchange and collaboration; a fine example how expertise becomes even more powerful when it is shared 🤝 ERN BOND E.
