By the time credit risk shows up in a probability of default (PD), it is often too late. A merchant's PD and exposure tell you where they stand today. They do not always tell you what is coming. Distress tends to surface elsewhere first, in operational signals, before it ever reaches the balance sheet. That is why programmes like VAMP and MATCH are worth watching. Both matter in their own right as payments risk indicators, and at Envisso we keep an eye on VAMP as one input among many. Read alongside the credit picture, rising dispute ratios and termination listings often flag trouble well before a default model does. Good credit monitoring is not one number.
