English skills shouldn't be a barrier to workforce training. Yet too often, English learners are required to meet language requirements before they can access training for high-demand careers. Our latest case study offers a different approach. Working with MassHire North Shore Workforce Board, EnGen built workplace English instruction directly into an advanced manufacturing training prpgram, helping participants build language and technical skills at the same time. The result: 100% improved their English skills, and 100% advanced to employment. If you're looking for practical models to expand access and strengthen your workforce pipeline, download the full case study. https://lnkd.in/gqM5285W

English skills are workforce skills – and one of the most overlooked drivers of economic growth. In my latest blog for CAEL, I explore how access to workforce-focused English learning expands talent pipelines, increases credential attainment, and strengthens regional economies. Thanks to CAEL for elevating this conversation, and to our partners at World Education Services for co-authoring the playbook featured in the blog. Together, we're helping more communities connect English learning with workforce opportunity. https://lnkd.in/eMfQhHjm

  • We're thrilled to partner with the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions' Office of New Americans to expand access to career-aligned English instruction across the state. English is a workforce skill. By connecting language learning with career pathways, we're helping more New Mexicans build skills, advance their careers, and strengthen communities and the state's economy. New Mexico is joining a growing network of states—including Colorado, Maine, Michigan, and North Dakota—that are embracing English upskilling as a workforce development strategy. Curious how your state or region can do the same? Download our playbook to explore practical strategies for building stronger talent pipelines. 👉 https://lnkd.in/diEf3sBS

Last week EnGen kicked off our latest partnership with the New Mexico Office of New Americans with a partner meeting in Albuquerque. Thanks to Leonardo Castañeda and Indica Simpson for bringing together this important group of organizations and leaders who are supporting newcomers across the "Land of Enchantment". English is a workforce skill, and there is a huge opportunity to prepare learners with the English Upskilling that supports career pathway development across education, healthcare, energy, transportation, and other in-demand workforce training opportunities. I could not be more proud to be a part of this initiative.

Thank you, Marc Lesser for the opportunity to share EnGen’s mission on #NoSuchThingPod. We’re committed to building scalable, learner-centered solutions that can reach the 98% of adult English learners in the U.S. who currently lack access to instruction. Grateful for the conversation and for your leadership in elevating the importance of adult learning and workforce opportunity.

Only 2% of adult English learners in the U.S. have access to instruction. That’s not a small gap — it’s a missing system. 🦣 Episode 151 of #NoSuchThingPod, I talk with Katie Brown, PhD, who has spent her career asking what it would take to build real infrastructure for adult learning. From teaching English on an apple orchard to leading EnGen , Katie has been focused on one question: How do we design learning that actually works for adults? We get into: • Why adult literacy is a piece of U.S. infrastructure we never built • How technology can scale access without losing dignity • What Freire still teaches us about agency and learning • Why immigrants aren’t “future workers” — they’re the present • What it means to take lifelong learning seriously, beyond lip service If you’re in workforce development, adult education, ed‑tech, or policy, this one’s worth your time. #AdultLearning #EdTech #WorkforceDevelopment 🎧 Episode 151: “The System We Never Built” https://lnkd.in/ej8KJSjv If you enjoy it, please leave a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ five‑star review wherever you found the show — it makes a real difference.

AI readiness is workforce readiness. At last week’s National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) conference, Juanita S. from CodeConnect and I led a timely conversation about what AI means for workforce systems, adult education providers, and the workers they serve. One thing is clear: workers are already using AI. The question is whether workforce systems will help them use it effectively, ethically, and confidently. I’ve summarized my top 3 takeaways from the discussion — including what equitable AI adoption could look like in practice, and why workforce organizations can’t afford to sit on the sidelines. #NAWDP

States are doing important work connecting immigrant talent to good jobs by modernizing systems and building the infrastructure for meaningful economic inclusion. On the ground, this looks like streamlining licensing for internationally trained physicians so patients in underserved communities get the care they need and other innovations to ensure we realize immigration’s, and immigrants’, potential. States’ efforts are necessary and make a difference, but they aren’t enough on their own. No system, however well designed, can integrate people who aren’t there. Without immigration, the U.S. population will start shrinking by 2033. The U.S.-born working-age population will decline every year for the next decade. And restricting immigration hasn’t helped U.S.-born workers—their unemployment rate has gone up. The only material way to offset declines is by recognizing immigration as a workforce strategy. This means we must attract new talent that our communities and economies need and keep building better systems to ensure states can integrate that talent in ways that ensure everyone thrives.
