Elkem released its second quarter 2026 results today – swipe to see a summary. The quarter was marked by continued progress on Elkem's transformation, with organisational streamlining completed, cost reductions exceeding target, and the financial position materially strengthened. Key figures: ➡️ Total operating income was NOK 3 708 million, down 4% from 2Q 2025 ➡️ EBITDA was NOK 523 million, a decline from NOK 645 million in 2Q 2025 ➡️ EBITDA margin was 14% The quarter also included strong ESG performance. Leadership transition at Elkem Today, we announced that Dag Teigland has been appointed Elkem’s new chief executive officer, effective 3 August 2026. Helge Aasen will step down after 17 years as CEO and assume the role of chairman of the board. Dag brings over two decades of industrial and investment experience to Elkem. Among current engagements, he serves as executive chairman of the board of Tekna (OSE:TEKNA). Over the course of his career, Dag has held senior executive roles across industry and investment, including as chief executive officer of Tinfos AS and Holta Invest AS, where he developed and led an active industrial investment platform. Dag also has prior experience from Elkem, where he held several leadership roles between 1998 and 2002, lastly as managing director of business area chrome. "The Board is pleased to appoint Dag as CEO of Elkem. He brings deep industrial expertise and a proven track record of driving development and transformation. With his background spanning both international industrial operations and investment environments, Dag is well suited to lead Elkem into its next phase of growth and development," said Marianne E. Johnsen, interim chair of the Board. "It is a great honour to return to Elkem and take on the role of chief executive officer. Elkem is a company with a strong industrial heritage and a leading position within its respective segments. I look forward to working with the Board, the Elkem leadership team and colleagues worldwide to build on this foundation, accelerate sustainable growth, advance safety and innovation, and ensure that Elkem continues to supply the strategic materials needed for a cleaner, smarter and more resilient future," said Dag Teigland. Helge leaves the CEO position after having strengthened Elkem's strategic position, expanded its global footprint and developed world-leading positions in silicon, ferrosilicon, foundry alloys and carbon solutions. Helge has also led Elkem through major portfolio and financing measures, including the divestment of the Silicones division. "It has been a privilege to lead Elkem as CEO over the past 17 years. I am proud of what the organisation has accomplished during this period and confident that the company is well positioned for long-term, sustainable value creation. Another week, another milestone ✅ Elkem has successfully completed a comprehensive refinancing process, providing a solid foundation for the company’s strategic transformation. In May, we raised approximately NOK 1,500 million through a private placement, which attracted strong investor interest and was significantly oversubscribed. This was followed by a subsequent offering which was concluded last week, raising approximately NOK 300 million. In addition, Elkem has secured a fully underwritten debt refinancing of EUR 1,000 million (NOK 10,900 million). “We are deeply appreciative of the confidence Elkem benefits from in the capital markets. Elkem has recently undergone a major transformation to become a focused metals and materials company. We have now successfully strengthened our balance sheet, through an equity raise, debt reduction and refinancing. We are also making good progress on our announced targets to reduce costs and optimise working capital to further strengthen Elkem’s financial robustness. These measures reinforce our competitiveness and resilience in a volatile global environment. We are confident that Elkem is well positioned for growth once demand recovers, supported by strong market and cost positions,” says says CFO Morten Viga.

We’re pleased to share that we have signed a new long‑term power purchase agreement with Statkraft for our Bjølvefossen plant for the years 2031–2037. For more than a century, abundant renewable power has enabled the development of advanced metallurgical industries in Norway and helped make Elkem a global leader in silicon-based metals and materials.   Bjølvefossen has roots dating back to Elkem’s early years. In 1913, the Bjølvo waterfall was developed to power the plant that still carries its name. Today, Elkem Bjølvefossen is one of the world’s largest suppliers of foundry alloys, used in everything from cars and buildings to renewable energy and defence. Its carbon footprint is around one‑third of the global average. Long-term access to renewable power is essential to maintaining local jobs, value creation, low-emission production and enabling continued investment in critical materials and technologies for the future. Thank you to Statkraft for a strong and continued partnership. 🤝

It was a pleasure to welcome Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre to Elkem Bjølvefossen yesterday to discuss the issues shaping the future of Norwegian industry: access to renewable energy, digitalisation and AI, skills development, and market access. Bjølvefossen has been at the heart of its local community since 1905. More than 120 years on, Norwegian hydropower is still being transformed here into materials shipped through the Hardanger Fjord to markets around the world — essential inputs for everything from automotive components and wind turbines to construction and defence applications. Today, Bjølvefossen is a leading supplier of foundry alloys and one of the most competitive producers globally — in terms of cost, productivity, resource efficiency and climate performance. It was a proud moment for our employees to showcase their workplace, whether they have been here for decades or are just starting out as apprentices. 👷♂️👷♀️ At the same time, the pressure on our industry is increasing. Weak markets, geopolitical uncertainty, trade barriers and market distortions are putting European industrial competitiveness under strain. If the past year has shown us anything, it is that market access cannot be taken for granted — it must be actively defended. The EU safeguard measures introduced last autumn were an important reminder of that. Without effective protection, Europe risks losing more of its industrial base, but the EEA countries should stand together in strengthening Europe’s strategic autonomy. 🤝 When the world around us becomes more uncertain, stable framework conditions at home matter even more. We appreciate the Prime Minister’s commitment to maintaining the CO₂ compensation scheme, which ensures a level playing field with European competitors, and the understanding that access to affordable renewable power is critical for the competitiveness of Norwegian industry. New large-scale consumption cannot come before new power production — the two must go hand in hand. Thank you to the Prime Minister for taking the time to visit Bjølvefossen and talk to our employees!
