📢 Europe's objective cannot be to reach lower emissions through industrial decline. | https://lnkd.in/eN_c6aQP In the Financial Times today, Cefic President Markus Kamieth urges that Europe must deliver all: emissions reductions and industrial transformation and competitiveness. Europe cannot afford to mistake deindustrialisation for decarbonisation. "Climate ambition must work in the real economy: Europe must align the pace of ETS tightening with the pace at which the conditions for industrial transformation become available. Otherwise, we risk cutting industry before emissions." Ahead of the European Commission's review of the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS), Markus highlights key realities: ✅ The next phase of decarbonisation requires affordable low-carbon energy, carbon infrastructure, investment certainty and demand for low-carbon products: conditions that are still largely missing today. ✅ A successful ETS revision must reflect these industrial realities and global competition, to ultimately strengthen Europe's competitiveness and create the conditions for industry to invest, innovate and decarbonise in Europe. ✅ Carbon leakage protection remains essential while those conditions are being built. Removing safeguards before viable alternatives exist, risks driving investment and production out of Europe rather than accelerating the transition. ✅Key parameters of the ETS framework must be set right – from the cap trajectory and free allocation to the benchmarks that determine carbon cost exposure. We count on policymakers to get the fundamentals right, well before 2030. #EUETS Ursula von der Leyen Teresa Ribera Stéphane Séjourné Wopke Hoekstra

After a highly impactful two-year tenure marked by unprecedented regional collaboration and economic growth, Board Chair Julie Bennett, Executive Vice President and Chief Legal and Governance Officer at Ballad Health, is completing her term as chair but continuing to serve on the BRIDGE Board.   BRIDGE is excited to announce that Adrian Holt, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Eastman, will succeed Julie Bennett as the 2026-27 BRIDGE Board Chair.   Under Julie Bennett’s leadership, BRIDGE successfully crossed city, county, and state boundary lines to foster regional approach to economic advancement. Her tenure was highlighted by major milestone victories, most notably bringing together public and private stakeholders to invest heavily in expanded regional air service. This historic initiative established a new Air Service Committee (made up of public, private and elected officials), introduced a new carrier and flights aimed at boosting tourism, and generated a compounding economic “snowball effect” across communities.   Adrian Holt, an accomplished leader, is poised to steer the organization into its next phase of innovation and growth. Holt has been a proactive engaged leader during his time on the BRIDGE Board, and he shares the vision established in BRIDGE’s strategic plan that he helped develop.   The leadership transition officially took effect on July 1st. Holt will chair his first board meeting on July 16th. You can find the full press release on our website here: https://lnkd.in/eQkY-uFn

This week, Eastman's EVETS ERG recognized Senior Master Sergeant Chad Sharpe with an Eagle Plaque following his six-month deployment with the Tennessee Air National Guard. While deployed, Chad led a cyber protection team through complex, high-stakes work – strengthening mission effectiveness through collaboration and innovation. He brings that same focus to his role as an advanced systems control analyst at our Kingsport, Tenn., site. “Today, we’re recognizing someone who represents the best of the Eastman team,” said Eastman’s Chief Manufacturing Officer Michelle Caveness. “Chad’s ability to lead through complexity and keep teams aligned and moving forward is evident both in his military service and in his work here at Eastman.” We’re proud to recognize Chad’s service and the everyday leadership he brings to both missions.
