Caulfield Grammar School’s Senior School Teaching and Learning Building received a Commendation in Sustainable Architecture at the 2026 Victorian Architecture Awards. “The building creates healthy, comfortable settings through clean indoor air, acoustic comfort, daylight, outlook, low-toxicity finishes, and efficient all-electric services, as evidenced by WELL and Green Star certifications. Live tracking of indoor environmental quality, energy use and on-site energy production makes sustainability visible to students and staff. The project demonstrates how education architecture can support learning, belonging and environmental awareness in everyday school life.” - Jury citation A big congratulations to the project team and all our collaborators. Stephen shared his last lunch as Director by doing what he does best: unpacking the design process. Through an informal pin-up of 'The History of DesignInc in 100 Sketches,' he walked us through the built and the unbuilt, the linework (wiggly lines included), and the importance of drawing context, landscape, and surroundings first. Stephen has played a significant role in shaping the design culture of our studio, and will continue to provide strategic design advice and mentorship within the DesignInc community. #designinc #designincmelbourne #architecture

After more than 25 years with DesignInc, Stephen Webb will be stepping down from his role as Director in July 2026. Stephen will continue to be part of the practice, providing strategic design advice, peer review and mentoring across key projects. Over his time with DesignInc, he has played a significant role in shaping the design culture and output of the Melbourne studio. We’re grateful for Stephen’s ongoing involvement and contribution as the Melbourne studio continues to evolve.
